Christopher lunged at us, swiping his hands at me. I stepped back and kicked him in his face. Christopher staggered backwards as his friends started to attack us.
Jack grabbed a stool near him and started blocking the incoming attacks. Jack knocked down a boy and jumped onto the table.
Someone grabbed my hood from the back, and I twisted around, wrenching my hoodie out of the boy's grasp. I kicked him in the chest, sending the chestnut brown haired boy tumbling down on another.
"Derek, get in the vent now!" I yelled at him, shoving him towards the ceiling. Hands reached out from the ceiling as Derek climbed into the ceiling.
"Jack, you next!" I screamed as a fist came flying out of nowhere. My jaw took the blow, and I almost toppled off the table if Jack hadn't grabbed me from the back.
"No, YOU go!" he shouted, dragging me to the stool in the middle. I struggled for a bit, not wanting to lose Jack.
"GO!" yelled Jack, and reluctantly, I climbed into the ceiling, my legs dangling in the air. Derek and Cody pulled me up as cold air blasted in my face. The vent was rather huge, and the vent was tall, so I could kneel on the floor, and my head would barely touch the ceiling of the vent.
"JACK!" we yelled, looking at him.
He was busy hitting people on the head with the stool. He slowly inched towards us, putting his foot on the stool. Christopher tried to grab Jack by his legs, but Jack swung his stool at Christopher's arms. Christopher cried out in pain, anger in his eyes. Jack was now standing on top of the stool, and we grabbed his clothes, ready to pull him up. More boys started to overcrowd the table, and Jack was outnumbered. He flung the stool and clutched onto the floor of the vent. We grabbed his arms and started to pull him up. Suddenly, he was pulled back into the room.
"You are going nowhere! You can't escape from me!" shouted Christopher, as Jack was pulled out of the vent.
Suddenly, Jack howled in pain. His pupils contracted in his eyes, and I could see pain in his eyes.
I pulled at Jack with all my might and managed to pull him up into the vent. Jack managed to hoist himself into the vent, and he lay panting on his back.
Clove shut the door to the air vent as hands reached up from below.
"Are you alright?" I asked Jack, moving closer to him.
He nodded, "I think someone stabbed me with a pencil." He lifted his pants, revealing a small gray dot in his calf. Clove gasped and looked around the vent.
My hands lifted my shirt, and I quickly started to unwrap the bandage covering my waist.
"What are you doing?" asked Jack, putting his hand on my chest to stop me.
"I'm fine," he responded.
I tore a little piece of the bandage and wrapped it tightly around Jack's leg. The wound didn't seem bad, but I wasn't taking any chances.
"We should start moving," Derek said, stomping on the fingers trying to open the air vent.
I turned around and started to head towards a red light at the end of the tunnel.
"This way!" I said, being the first to move. Clove and Jack followed, crawling on their knees. Cody and Derek managed to lock the air vent door from the inside, so that Christopher wouldn't be able to follow us.
As I neared the red light, I saw a sign that read, 'Exit'.
An exit? I thought. To where?
