Day 27
Sabre's P.O.V.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weather is beautiful this morning, but I have no time to enjoy it. Instead, I'm focused on reading. M's new books are all studies on steve energy, how it works and how it grows stronger. It's actually kind of interesting, especially compared to the biology books. According to the text, each color has a different level of energy, with Yellow Steves having the most, and Violet Steves the least. They even try to explain how the crystals work. I wish I had these books way earlier.
Aside from studying, I'm also doing my best to appear complacent, like I'm following Light's stay-at-home regime. I have until tomorrow night to convince Light that he shouldn't worry about me. With Green as sick as he is, I can't have the Colorless Guard getting in my way.
Fights are a lot more difficult when your friend has an army at his disposal.
Rolling my eyes, I take out my notes and write a new hypothesis:
Assuming that the sickness is directly related to a steve's energy, it is likely drawn to the most powerful energy it can find. This means that steves with more powers would be more likely to get sick than those who are not as powerful. Powerful steves would probably experience a longer period of sickness before their sanity starts to rapidly decline, however the sickness wouldn't be as powerful. Still unsure how the redstone affects this process in Professor Red and Red Leader.
Once again, I wish the steves in the Sagian world would have written things down more, and that I had access to their books. I want to check my theories, but with only three Steve's sick and a few details given by Alex early on, I have very little to go off of.
I'm really getting sick of all this reading.
I put the book down and decide to go and socialize today. I've heard the Green Leader is dealing with a lot of sick steves. Maybe he can give me some first-hand knowledge that these texts can't? At least it won't be too suspicious if I ask.
I make my way down from the attic, wincing as the sunshine streaming in from the window hits my face. Why didn't I close the curtains again?
I make myself presentable, and am ready to face the day when I hear a soft tapping noise. All my instincts fire off. It's just someone knocking at the door, but for some reason, I feel really uneasy. It's probably just Light.
I peek out of the upstairs window, and catch a glimpse of my visitor. He's mostly hidden by the portico, but I can make out a flash of bright yellow hair. I frown. I don't have great experiences with Yellow Steves. Namely the Corrected Sun, who had a habit of leaving threatening notes in my house.
Still, there are guards outside, right? They can handle things if it gets out of hand.
Echoing my thoughts, two of the guards glance at each other, then start forward. As they pull the Steve back, I can see that it's actually a friend of mine. The Former Yellow Assistant. He seems panicked as he tries to talk to the guards, probably explaining that we're friends. I quickly rush downstairs, ready to set things straight.
By the time I fling the door open, the guards have hands poised on their weapons, cornering my friend.
"Hey, cut it out!" I tell them, alarmed. "Seriously, guys! It's okay!" They don't pay me any mind, carefully taking out their spears.
"You can't threaten him just because he was on the porch." One of the other guards protests, taking a step forward and attempting to calm the situation.
