Chapter 6 (Nico)

Nico opened his eyes to a blinding light. Was this heaven? if so, how did he get in? He groaned. The last thing he remembered was the sidewalk rushing up to meet him. Why was he falling? And then it all came rushing back. James, the bottles, work. Shit, work! He tried to sit up, but was topped by a stabbing pain in his side. Okay, so that rules out heaven. Maybe a really clean hell? Suddenly a door opened. 

An unidentified voice dryly commented, "Well, Mr. DiAngelo finally awakes." 

Nico groaned. He knew where he must be, and it wasn't dead. He must be in a hospital. How long had he been out, was his high school- Goode High- worried? How much work had he missed? The nurse came over and pressed something to move his bed up. He surveyed the room around him. It looked like a large room, with a curtain running the width of it to give the occupants privacy. 

"Is there someone else in the room?" Nico asked, a questioning look on his face.

"Yes in fact there is," the nurse responded, "But he's not a patient. Hasn't left the room since you were admitted."

She pulled the curtain back revealing a boy with blonde hair and tanned, freckled skin curled up on the other bed in the room. Nico inhaled sharply.

"What is it dear, does something hurt?"

"No, I know him."

"Well I'd hope you did seeing as he is your emergency contact and all." 

Nico didn't have the heart to tell her that he and Will hadn't spoken in years, despite being in the same grade at the same school. Will had his group of friends, including the golden couple of the school, Piper and Jason, and Nico had his group which was him, his sister, and his half-sister. SHIT! Bianca and Hazel had no idea where he was! Oh boy there would be hell to pay when he got home. He was distracted from his thoughts though because at that moment, the boy in the other bed opened his eyes.
