Chapter Three: It may not be so bad

~2010~

-Well, if we're in a band together, we should get to know each other- says the boy with wavy brown hair and brown eyes-I'll start, my name is Liam and I'm from Wolverhampton, who's next?

- I'm Zayn and I'm from Bradford.

-I'm Louis and I'm from Doncaster- So the boy of the camp is Louis.

-I'm Harry and I'm from a little village called Holmes Chapel- My brother says now.

The next one to speak is me.

-I'm Emma and I also come from Holmes Chapel.

- Are you the twins? Liam asks.

-Yes- Harry answers simply.

The last one to speak is the blond boy with blue eyes.

- I'm Niall and I come from Mullingar in Ireland.

His accent is very pronounced and I think it's very nice.

- The best thing would be to get to know each other better and try to sing a few songs together-Liam says again.

-My stepfather has a house in the suburbs that he doesn't use much, we could go there tomorrow and spend the weekend there, so we can get to know each other and practice.

Harry just had a really good idea, maybe this won't end up as bad as I expected.

-Well that's a great idea, is it good for all of us? -Liam asks now.

We all say yes and figure out all the details of our little getaway.

After talking to our families and told them everything that has happened, I realize it's time to talk to Fred.

I write him a message:

Can I call you?

Two minutes later my phone rings, I look at the screen and it's Fred.

-Hey Emma, how's it going?

-Hello Fred, well, actually...

-What's up, are you ok?

- Yeah yeah, I'm fine, but they didn't get me for the next phase in the girls' category.

-Oh Emma, I'm so sorry, is there anything I can do?

-Don't be sorry! That's what I wanted to talk to you about, I didn't get selected as a solo artist, but they put me in a band with four other guys and Harry, so I'll be able to continue in the show.

There's silence, I know he wasn't happy about it.

-Four guys, you're in a band with four guys, I'm sorry but I don't get it, and honestly, I don't like you spending the day with four guys instead of me.

And there it is, the reaction I was worried about.

- I know Fred, and you know I'd like to be with you but this is my only chance to succeed in music, you know that's what I want more than anything.

-I thought you wanted me more than anything else.

It can't be true that we're having this conversation, when he gets like this I can't stand it.

-I didn't mean it like that Fred, you know I love you, but this is my dream and I'm going to fight for it.

More silence, Fred likes to be so dramatic.

-Fine, but if I hear of anyone trying to touch you, I'm going to go straight over there and bring you back with me.

-Don't worry, nothing like that is going to happen. I love you Fred.

- I love you too Emma. Goodbye.

-Goodbye.

If it wasn't for that, because I love him somehow, I would have already left him.

The weekend goes by very quickly, it turns out that these guys are very nice and funny. We spend the weekend learning all about each other and singing together around a campfire in the courtyard.

It turns out that our voices do sound good together, and to be honest, they all have beautiful voices.

I've noticed that Harry has liked Louis a lot. They've spent the whole weekend just hanging out with each other and laughing at everything each other said.

I got on very well with everyone, but I have to say that Zayn is a very interesting person, he has a lot of talent for everything related to art and it's really nice to see how much he enjoys it.

On the other hand, Niall is super nice and very funny. He told us that he broke up with his girlfriend just before he came on the show because he wanted to focus on his career, and I felt a bit bad for him. He also told us a lot about Ireland, he's very proud to be Irish and it turns out they have a very interesting culture. I think he's the one I've had the most chemistry with, I'm sure we're going to be really good friends.

We're about to go back on the show, and we still don't have a name for the group, we're all thinking of names and coming up with ideas, but none of us are convinced, until Harry says:-And what do you think of "One Direction"?

- I like it- Liam and Louis say at the same time.

-Yeah, it sounds cool- Niall says as he's eating a biscuit.

- I think it's perfect- I say, and I really love that name.

- I like it too- says Zayn while he is finishing a sketch.

- Now the rest of the world has to like it- Harry says.

And, now that I've found out that these guys are so cool, I'm seeing that this could end really well, and if it doesn't, I'll have as much fun as I can while it lasts.
