Where should I start...
I guess I'll start at the beginning!
My name is Y/N L/N, and I have just moved to my new home in Sequin Land! I've settled
somewhere in Scuttle Town, the place where I landed my first job at. It was really something.
The water, the architecture, and don't even get me started on the ladies. Everything about this
place gorgeous. I think I've made the right choice of settling.
But I'm not done yet...
Since I have a new life and such, it's time to put myself out there in a way I haven't done when I was back home. I really didn't have much friends back there. It sucks, due to the fact I'm a pretty timid person. I don't really like approaching people that much or drawing attention to myself.
But that changes today!
Today, I'm going to get the life I never had back home. It's going to be so much better!
Hopefully...
After I was done organizing everything in my new house, I decided to go outside to start my journey. It was a little frightening, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. The first thing I felt getting out was the bright sun beating down on me. It was warm outside, but it wasn't boiling hot. But it was enough to make me sweat a bit.
I exhaled and hopped down from my porch. I began to skip and hop down the road, passing a bunch of people in heavy clothing and belly dancer outfits. I looked so out of place here. I was wearing a designer's T-shirt, black skinny jeans and white shoes. I had my own style and I really didn't like to "fit in" in the ordinary sense. I like to stick out in some way.
The first place I stopped on my little exploration of the town was a small shop. There I saw a guy
in an Arabic-like outfit. "Welcome, young man! How can I help you today?" He asked me politely.
I rubbed my arm as I continued to look around and approach the counter. "I don't suppose you have any drinks here by chance?" I asked him.
"Well of course I do!" He said pulling out a couple of potion-like bottles. "What will it be?" He asked me.
I looked at the bottle and winced a little bit. "Uhm..." I couldn't even know what to make of it.
"Is something wrong, mister?" He asked me with concern.
I shook it off and snapped out of it. "No! Of course not. Heh, heh... Why would there be..?" I asked awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head.
"You seem a bit unsure, sir. Allow me to demonstrate-" Before he could continue, I cut him off.
"No, no, no! You don't need to explain anything." I said before sighing. "I'll take the red one..." I said with a deadpan expression.
After that awkward little encounter at the store, I walked out with the red drink in hand. Geez. So much for simple social skills...
But it's not over yet. Still have a whole entire day to make this right!
After inspecting the red liquid I had just purchased, I bumped into someone by accident causing
me to drop the bottle. The bottle shattered and red liquid splattered all over the pavement.
"Oh man..." I muttered.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" Before he could finish, I cut him off. "Yes, yes... It's fine..." I said dusting myself off. "I wasn't going to even drink it anyway." I said.
"So, you're not mad at me?" He asked awkwardly.
"I guess not." I told him. I looked up and saw the guy I had just bumped into. I was stunned at the sight. He had spikey blue hair wrapped in a yellow bandana, a blue vest, a white tank top, blue shorts, blue ankle guards and brown sandals. He also had a bandage wrapped around his left arm and he had dark bags under his eyes as if he hadn't slept in a while. He was so handsome. Hell, the mere sight of him even made me blush a little bit.
I tried to hide my pink face by turning away and putting my arm over my face. "Ugh..." I muttered.
The boy looked concerned for me. "Is something wrong? Is it me?" He asked.
I gestured my hand, signifying him to calm down. "Yeah, it's fine. I'm just... scatterbrained is all..." I said trying to make up an excuse.
He raised a brow at me. "What do you mean "Scatterbrained?" He asked.
"You know what, just forget about it. Okay?" I said with slight annoyance.
"Geez... I'm sorry..." He muttered holding his arm. He had a slight look of sorrow on his face.
I sighed and looked down to the ground. "Listen... I think we got off on the wrong foot. Let's start again, shall we?" I then shook it off and exhaled. "My name's Y/N. And yours?" I asked him offering him a hand to shake.
He seemed rather caught of guard for a moment there. He then snapped out of it and shook my hand. "B-Bolo. Yeah, Bolo!" He said.
I smiled slightly. His touch gave me a shockwave of warmth through my veins. Something about him seemed... special. I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
I just smiled at him and released his hand. "Bolo... Huh. That's ironic. I was expecting your name to be something along those lines." I told him.
He raised a brow at me. "I never really liked my name. Makes me sound like a blockhead." He told me rubbing his head.
I just chuckled a little bit in return. "Sounds fine to me. I like that name. "Bolo..." I said.
"Yeah, well, I hope you don't mind me asking... but are you new here?" He asked me.
"Sure am! Just moved here a couple days ago. Scored a good job as well. What about you? You seem a little different from the rest of the residents." I said putting my hand on my hip.
"Oh, me? I grew up in Water Town. But since this Town's always getting attacked, I made it my duty to protect it at any costs. But it's mostly because I made a promise to my friend..." He told me.
I raised a brow. That surely caught my interest. "What? A promise. Sounds spicy. Here. We can talk about it along the way. I still have a lot of this town to uncover." I told him as I put my hand on his back and started walking.
We've spend about a few minutes walking and talking throughout the town. His story about his supposed 'Half-Genie' friend was remarkable. I didn't even know genies were even real. I was happy they were.
Guess like those fairy-tales were real after all...
We found this nice hill just above the town, overlooking the ocean down below. We took a seat and stared off into the distance. I sighed. "You know, Bolo... I'm so happy I bumped into you." I told him with a warm smile.
He rubbed his head and looked to the side. "Yeah, it's always nice to see a new face every once in a while." He responded with a small sigh.
I raised a brow and turned to him. "Bolo, what's wrong?" I asked him with concern.
"You know, I'm not really on the lines of "popular" here. Everybody sees me as a screw up. Mostly because I peep at ladies in the bath house." He told me.
I took a second to take that in. "Hey, we're all guilty of that at some point. It's kind of a guy thing." I told him.
He looked at me with a slight bit of sorrow. He then gave me a short smile. "Well you're the first one not to throw a tantrum at me. I'll tell you that." He told me.
I smiled at him. "Hey, if you need someone to talk to... I'm always here. Though I just met you." I told him placing my hand on his back.
He looked at me and smiled. We then looked off into the distance, enjoying the breeze of the palm trees and ocean. Looks like there's someone similar to me all this time. I've never empathized with someone so much. I felt like that at home.
But that's going to change. Maybe for Bolo as well.
You know what they say... 'A friend in need is a friend indeed...'
