"God, she's so fucking weird," Greg mutters in pure disgust, staring at the girl across the garden.
"Why?" I ask.
"Look, I know you're new here so you don't really know all the drama here but one thing I can tell you is to stay FAR away from her."
I stare at the girl in the green dress, a large white bow tied in her hair.
She seems harmless.
I watch as she lifts her hand and laughs as a caterpillar crawls on it.
"What did she do?"
"She's a freak! There's a reason why the headmistress keeps her locked away on the top floor. She loves bugs, I heard her room is full of them. She draws the most disturbing things and calls it art. Plus, one time she threatened to kill Natalya with a knife." He explains.
My eyes widened a bit at his words.
And even though I should take his word and stay as far away from her as possible, I'm weirdly more intrigued.
"We have a plan to get rid of her though." Another one of the kids says and my gaze immediately snaps back towards them.
"Get rid of her?"
"She's a witch...a demon stuck in a little girl's body." One of the girls spit.
"So- so you want to kill her?"
"Eventually...but first we want to mess with her a bit. Well- technically we already did." The girl chuckles and everyone else slowly begins to as well.
The girl- Sage looks away from the bug on her hand and at us.
I freeze for a second when her eyes land on me.
I expect her to threaten me like everyone said she would but instead, she sends me a small smile before slowly standing up and approaching us.
"Oh shit." Someone curses when they realize she's approaching.
"Ugh! We told you to stay away from us, freak."
She falters for a second, her confidence from earlier vanishing a bit.
"I- I just came to introduce myself to-"
"No one cares! Leave us the hell alone, witch! Can't you see he wants nothing to do with you?" The girl on my left yells.
Sage flinches at her words and I watch as her eyes well up with tears before she runs back into the building.
"She was just trying to say hi, there was no need for all that!" I scoff.
