"Damn, someone's looking very demure," Damon says from behind me.
"Demure? What the fuck does that mean?"
"Sorry, I saw it on TikTok." He sighs, joining the other guys who for some reason decided they wanted to help me pick a suit for tonight.
"You should wear the bow tie," Ryder says.
"No."
"This is a formal din-"
"I don't care, I'm not trying to impress anyone."
"Jeez- what's got your panties in a twist?" Gun asks.
"Nothing," I mutter.
"I'm surprised you're not more relaxed after finally getting laid." Cy chuckles.
"What are you talking about?"
"Dylan said you were gonna fuck Cassidy, is that not true?"
"I was...then I turned back around and went to sleep instead."
"Dude!" Everyone groans and I roll my eyes and place this stupid bow around my neck.
"Sorry, I'm not a manwhore like the rest of you," I mutter.
"What even happened between you and Dyl? You guys have been avoiding each other for days." Ryder asks.
"Nothing...it's dumb."
"If it's dumb then you can share." Damon pushes.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're nosy as shit?" I snap and he rolls his eyes.
"Actually yes, Sophia from Spanish calls me a chismosa."
"Dude stop being so fucking uptight and tell us what's going on." Gun sighs.
"Nothing!"
"You know, you call Damon the annoying one but have you looked in the mirror lately?" Cy says.
The truth is, if I tell them what really went down between Dylan and me, they're just gonna laugh in my face.
And I really don't feel like being laughed at.
Yes, I may have overreacted a tiny bit but at that moment when she said she would much rather be single than marry me...it hurt.
A lot.
I just thought about the future and the fact that she has no idea that it will always be me that she ends up with.
Will she resent me for the rest of our lives? Will she hate me?
At first, I thought maybe she'd be okay with it since we've been friends for so long and it would be like marrying her best friend but it turns out she wants none of that.
Dylan is the most important person in my life, she somehow managed to turn a kid who never thought they could understand the feeling of love into someone who has a heart.
