As I sit down on a subway bench and watch the leaves blow away as the train passes, I get a familiar feeling of sorrow rush over my body, it gave me the chills, "S-sir?" a timid voice mumbled near me, gaining my attention, "W-why are you h-here?" I see an old man, cane in hand, pointing at me with his hands shaking quite violently. I was stunned by his question and looked at him for a minute before responding to him, "I'm waiting for my parents."
He stayed silent, but he smiled. As he walked away I heard him say underneath his breath, "You won't be seeing them here." he chuckled afterwards.I wanted for hours, what seemed like hundreds of trains passed by me, but my parents never walked out of any of the trains. I began to cry, and eventually fell asleep.
I never saw my parents again.
I woke up in a cold sweat, I looked around at the people around me. People didn't seem to care I was asleep or the fact I just woke up so worried, I can't believe I fell asleep in the library, again. I look at my computer screen, the light blinds me. I reach around the table for my glasses and put them on as I find them. I see the half written and sloppy essay that is due at 11:59, as I glare at the clock I see the clock tick faster and faster.
I close the computer and walk out of the library.
I give myself a pep talk as I walk through crowds for what seems like moments, but as I look up, the sky is dark and silent. The glare from the moon is the only light source, "I gotta get home." I sprint through the once filled sidewalk and am suddenly stopped as I run into something. My glasses fall off and as I grab them off the ground and look up, I see two men. "What is a kid like you doing out this late?" The man I ran into scolded, I pick myself up off the ground, "I'm just trying to get home." I begin to sweat, two men and a small child at night, alone? Can't be good.
The other man walks behind me and whispers "No one should be out this late", this sends chills down my spine "We'll have to deal with you" he continues and attempts to grab me but I duck underneath and slip past the man in front of me.
I run for what seems like forever, but they don't get any farther, I look behind me again but ram my shoulder into a pole, I groan in pain, and fall onto my back. My glasses fly of my head and hear the glass shatter on the ground next to me, I can see the men get closer and closer, I look at the glass next to me, and put the glass to my throat.
