THE FIRST CLASS OF THE DAY WAS ENGLISH. Jules sat on her designated place, discussing some random topic with Kaya before Ms. Tyte started talking. Standing there, in front of the board, the woman wrote and Jules took notes of what she thought was useful.

Asides from the girl's friends, she was the next person to notice her absence. At some point of the class, Jules followed her routine, and turned around slightly to see what was going on behind her back, but Lynn Loud wasn't there.

Jules immediately noticed something was wrong, Lynn's competitiveness never allowed her to miss school just so she could brag about winning the perfect attendance prize at the end of the school year. Something had to be going on for her to not show up.

Maybe she was running late... too late.

Jules frowned and turned around, writing on her notebook some more. Kaya, by her side, noticed her demeanor changing, and thought about asking before they were assigned stuff to do.

"You okay?" was all the girl could say, and Jules nodded.

"Yeah."

Jules didn't consider herself a liar nor an actress, but her skills were polished enough to fit both. And although she was okay, she had to pretend her sudden confusion (and, perhaps, concern) at Lynn's absence was nonexistent.

It did feel quite dull without the usual mockery.

When the bell rang, Ms. Tyte gave everyone back their essays, saving Jules' at the end. The blonde walked there, grabbing the red folder from the woman's hands shyly, nervously waiting for her review.

"Needless to say I'm surprised," she started. "It was hard for me to believe you two would cooperate, but it's very well done. Turns out that when both of you combine your potential instead of using it against each other, you can write the perfect essay. It was a pleasure to read it."
