DANIELLE HADN'T EXPECTED TO WAKE UP TO A PHONE CALL AT THREE IN THE MORNING, BUT THINGS RARELY WENT HOW SHE EXPECTED.

On the first ring, she ignored it. However, the longer she lay there, the more her increasing guilt bubbled up for purposefully ignoring a call.

She blindly reached for it, her hand fumbling on her couch cushions until she finally grasped the buzzing phone. She didn't have time to answer before the person on the other line began speaking.

"This is NYPD, fifteenth precinct, Officer Brannon speaking -- I'm calling for Danielle Goodwin?" The voice, Officer Brannon's, said clearly. His composure at such an early hour unsettled her, and she sat up straight.

"This is she," She spoke into the phone, nervousness getting the best of her. Were they going to ask her to come in early again?

"I apologize for bothering you at such a late hour, unfortunately, I must inform you that once you get to work tomorrow, you will be asked to make a statement regarding one of our -- former officers," Brannon explained vaguely. Dannie briefly contemplated whether she was dreaming about this conversation.

"I'm sorry, a statement? Regarding who?" She asked, now standing. As she stood, her stomach growled loudly, and she had to brace her arm on the cough to not fall over from the sudden rush of dizziness. She forcefully blinked her eyes, trying to focus on the situation at hand and prevent her thoughts from running around her tired brain.

"It's regarding former Officer Clyde Farnum. Earlier tonight he attacked a suspect in jail and is currently being held and questioned. You were reported to be on shift before the incident, and we would like a statement on the matter," She heard typing on the line, her brain trying to process the information. "The system states that your shift begins at eight tomorrow, can I schedule the meeting for eight-thirty, Ms.Goodwin?"

Dannie looked around her dark apartment as she thought about his words. Clyde Farnum had attacked a suspect?

Her heart dropped as she thought about the distressed blonde woman she had spoken to. Karen had sat there brokenheartedly, tears rolling down her cheeks, begging anyone to believe her.

"Ms.Goodwin?" He asked, and she snapped out of her trance.

"Karen Page? He attacked Karen Page?" She questioned, despite knowing the answer.

"I'm afraid I can't disclose any details--"

"Can't disclose details?" She laughed almost bitterly but prevented herself from snapping at the officer. Dannie reassured herself that whatever he wasn't telling her, she would find out tomorrow morning regardless -- considering it was her job to fill out the incident reports. "Can you at least tell me what happened to the suspect? Is she at the hospital?"

"The suspect has been released. They are consulting with their lawyers." The officer sighed irritably. "Ms.Goodwin, can I put you down for eight-thirty?"

"Yes! Just -- yes, that's fine," Danielle ran a hand down her face. Her stomach grumbled again.

"Great. We will see you tomorrow, sorry about the disturbance."
