Roshi learns that the boys were Gohan's two grandkids and tells them about the first Red Ribbon war & what they are up against while watching the news about mysterious attacks on former servicemen & the murders. After a day's rest, Roshi joins their search & begins helping Goku master his ki, in which Raé shōn has a grip on his own ki thanks to Gohan. Bulma begins to learn also by watching the guys train. During their search for another Dragonball, they fall into a trap set by the desert bandit Yamcha. The twins fight Yamcha & after Roshi interviens between them he convinces Yamcha to join them by promising some of the royalties for Bulma's invention, which angers Bulma, but Raé shōn tells her just trust & go along with in secret so they'll have extra help. Together, they fight off yet another ambush by Mai & several Red Ribbon Army assassins to who want obtain the next Dragonball. They manage to win & escape causing Mai to retreat once again.
