Phuwin Tangsakyuen was more than a little pissed.
His parents were in the midst of a terrible divorce. So far, Phuwin.
had escaped unhurt, but this struck him squarely in the face.
His parents had decided to sell the family estate, so Phuwin was unable to return home for Christmas. He also couldn't stay with either of them because they were on separate vacations abroad, and he'd never obtain a ticket. And what? Had they blocked his trust account? What the hell? And they had canceled his ticket, so he couldn't try to return home.
So he returned to the college campus to his upperclassman dorm, only to be informed, "You can't stay here. We're locking down the campus at midnight, and you must leave by then."
Phuwin phoned everyone, but most of them had already departed, as had he. They were either home or nearly there.
He may have enough to get a hotel for one night, but it is a three-week
break!
He was very furious.
"Dammit!" he yelled in the empty dormitory. But it wasn't.
"Phuwin, what's wrong?" a voice said. It belongs to Dunk Natachai, the school's leading English tutor. Dunk was a few inches shorter than Phuwin, with dark, black hair and a physique that hadn't seen much gym time. Phuwin was constantly attempting to get Dunk to the gym following tutoring sessions. "Guys, you gotta build the body and mind," he tells Dunk.
"Why are you still... What are you doing here?" Dunk inquired.
"What are you doing here? This is the upperclassman dorm," Phuwin yelled back, a touch meaner than he should have.
"I live here? In an overcrowded freshman dorm?" Dunk reminded Phuwin. As a freshman, Dunk had to reside on the first level of the six-story building. Even though Phuwin was wealthy, he had lived in a typical dorm room with a roommate while he was on a full-ride scholarship, even in his senior year.
"Sorry. But what are you doing on the 5th floor?"
"Final rounds before closing down the dorm," Dunk said. He had taken a "caretaker" role in the dorm to help with educational expenditures.
"Just the next floor to go. I wasn't actually expecting to find you here. The place is supposed to be empty."
"Remember that my parents are divorcing?" Phuwin asked. He handed Dunk the documentation he had been given. "I'm homeless for the holidays."
"Wow, I thought that your parents loved you! That's shit, bro!" Dunk exclaimed.
"I know!"
"Ugh, let me check the very last floor," Dunk said, returning the documents. "I will be right back."
Ten minutes later, Dunk returned. Phuwin was still sitting there stewing.
He had even contacted coaches and lecturers, but no one could help him.
"You are still packed, right?" he responded, "'cause you can't stay here."
"Yes and I know."
"Come home with me. My Aunt Marian flew my parents out east to her estate over the next month, so I have the farm completely to myself. We have internet and satellite," he replied.
"Ummm...."
"Seriously? You're worried about being alone with me?" Dunk acknowledged that he was gay. He wasn't on fire, but he also wasn't "butch". He was out and didn't care. College was an excellent choice for him, and...
