— MONDAY 19TH FEB

... 𝐖hile Alexis slept soundly, cuddled into my side, I was left awake, staring up at her bedroom ceiling. My mind travelled to the week we'd spent together and how it was probably the happiest I'd ever been in a long, long time. Alexis made my heart skip so many beats I thought I was going into cardiac arrest. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach so often around her that I constantly felt sick. But it was okay, because it was her. And even now, when she was doing nothing, my heart raced at the feeling of her breath on my neck.

Alexis was curled into a ball, resting her head on my chest but angled up towards my face, her short snores and hot puffs of breath hitting the underside of my jaw. My arm was wrapped around her shoulders and my hand sat under her (my) shirt on her spine, trailing along it.

Unbeknownst to him, it was his delicate touch that had sent her off to sleep so early.

The time ticked by and the sun still hadn't risen and I still hadn't slept. I also hadn't moved from my position on my back, to afraid that it would awake the girl on my chest. Every time Alexis stirred when I breathed too hard, I winced and muttered an apology, although aware that she couldn't hear me.

When I had seen how deep in sleep she was, my hand moved from beneath her (my) shirt and rested on her head, raking through her soft blonde hair. She would occasionally twitch or murmur in her sleep, to which I chuckled softly or stroked her head more gently.

I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and scrolled through my messages, seeing multiple from the Percy Jackson group chat and even some missed ones from my mom, just asking if I was okay and to say hi to Alexis for her. I single handedly replied to them all, gripping my phone tightly to avoid dropping it on my face and possible disturbing Alexis' sleep.

I'd also received a few messages from my school friends, asking about how it was in London and how it was going with Alexis. I rolled my eyes as some of my daring friends called her 'fine'. I quickly told them to 'stfu' before swiping onto another chat. This girl. . . she was a friend of mine, but I didn't necessarily like her.

I replied rather dryly to the texts I was being sent from her, saying how much she missed me and needed to see me soon.

I put my phone back on Alexis' night stand and looked down at the girl, memorising every freckle and beauty spot that decorated her cheeks and nose bridge. Her eyelids were shut, blocking me from glancing at her beautiful crystal-like iris'. People had always told me that I had beautiful eyes (clearly they hadn't met Alexis).

My hands played with the ends of her hair, twisting the strands in between my fingers.

"Giraffes. . ." Alexis mumbled into my neck.

A frown of confusion found its way onto my face and looked down at her. Her eyes were relaxed shut and her lips were parted slightly. Her breaths hit my skin and a tinge of pink spread across my cheeks.
