Are the best acquaintances made in a boutique?

"Well then what is first on our list?"

"Hmmm... I think we should buy my uniform! I will be wearing those everyday so I can not wait!"

"Uniform it is." Michael grabs my hand and drags me to the shop called 'Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions'

It is a beautiful boutique, also not really a straight building. The front is purple with two doors and a window in the middle.

As we enter a woman comes over.

"Hello my dears I am madame Malkin. What can I do for you today? School uniform?" She says with a smile and guides us to a chair.

"Yes please, it is her first year."

"Of course!" She starts to take my measurements. It feels somewhat weird because the measuring tape is just floating around me and a pen and paper are in the air making notes.

"Excited, little girl?"

"Yes! I can not wait to learn new stuff!"

"Haha, yes yes." With that the woman goes behind the desk into a room.

The boutique is cramped but cozy. Everywhere I look I see fabrics and robes. Eventhough it seems almost too full it gives a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

"Mister do you mind coming to me for a short second?"

"No, of course not." Michael says and follows Malkin.

"And who are you? Another muggleborn?"

Surprised and bit perplexed I turn around. In view comes a face just fitting with the high britisch accent and slimy arrogant voice.

"Can you not speak?"

He raises his eyebrows and I look into his eyes. They are cold and bright like ice. His skin is white like snow and his hair blond and it seems like he is using way to much gel.

"I can."

He forms a smug smile.

"Are you awe struck by my appearence? I mean I do under-"

"What do you mean with muggleborn?"

As fast as his smile appeared as fast did it disappear. It now seems like his face is full of disgust.

"Muggleborns are unworthy witches and wizards." The tone of his voice gets heavy. "They only have muggles as their parents."

I say nothing.

Is that 'racism'? Does something like that even exist in this world?

"My father is a muggle and I love him." Like him I try to make a disgusted face.

He scrunches his eyebrows.

"And your mother?"

"Was a witch."

After this his face falls and he breaks the eye contact. All his others expressions were so easy readable but this one I can not really classify.

"I am-"

"Oh dear, your robes are ready." Madame Malkin looks at me with excitment. "You will look wonderful!" When she turns around she spies the boy. "Oh I see a new customer!"

The boy averts his eyes from me and gives her a smug smile.

"Let us go Aurora." With that I also redirect my view and I am met with a warm smile.

"Yes father." I smile back and start to walk out.

"See you soon Aurora."

With a last glance to the blond I leave the shop.

Weird boy.

As soon as I step out I am faced with the same green eyes which I saw in the bank.

We just stare at each other.

"Aurora, lets go, we are going to get you a pet."

I give the boy a smile and follow my father which is reading the letter with all the necessities on it.

"Yes yes, coming, you are in such a hurry, it is crazy."

"So what kind of pet do you want? Cat, toad owl or a rat?"

Hmmm... actually good question.

For me it is something between a cat or an owl... after a little thinking I give my answer.

"I want an owl. With her I can send letters to you and others!"

"Good choice! I expect a lot of letters from you then, Aurora."

Our next stop is a shop with the name 'Eeylops Owl Emporium". The shop looks a bit more narrow and dark and infront of the window are already cages with owls.

The atmophere inside is lively due to the hooting and fluttering of the owls and behind the counter is a person deep in thoughts which is paying no attention to us.

A bit absend minded I look through the owls. I do not know what I should think of the shop. The owls seem happy but do they not need more space?

After looking at a few owls I stop.

In the right corner on the fourth shelf I see her.

A tawny owl.

The owl looks at me with big round eyes. The owls color resemble the forest or chocolate.

"Mocha" it strucks me and the owl seems pleased with the name. "Father this is her." I point at the twany owl.

"A feisty little thing, are you sure?"

Out of nowhere the man behind the counter stands beside me.

"Ohh god." I jump back a little and look at the old man. "Yes I am."

My heart still beats fast from the shock.

"So it shall be." He laughs and takes the cage out of the shelf. "The owl is female."

Mocha looks again at me with big eyes and gives small uhus from her. Happily I take the cage which is stretched towards me.

"The name of your new owl is Mocha, correct?"

"Yes I know not very creative but her colors are like coffee."

Michael pats yet again my head. "I think it is a lovely name." He puts his hand into the cage and tries to pet Mocha. As soon as he touches her, she bites his finger. In a shwift motion my dad pulls his hand back.

"Oh you little! You will just perfectly fit to Aurora." He snapps.

I try to cover my laugh but I just can't and let it all out.

"Let us pay Aurora." With a little pout and still holding his poor finger we go back to the counter.

"I warned you she is a handful."

"I will manage but thank you." I smile.

After we payed we go out and get me a cauldron, telescope and all the course books that I need.

Not gonna lie the books do look cool but they are way to thick. It is going to be a hard time to learn everything but I do wonder on which level they begin teaching.

I can imagen that I am not the only one who did not know what they are. The boy in the boutique mentioned that there are so called "muggle borns" which only have muggles as their parents. They for sure have like me no experience...

"The only thing that is left is your wand Aurora."
