The sound of my boots were muffled by the shouting and loud music of the bar from the moment I stepped in.
The place was warm, too warm, with groups of people close together, laughing and drinking. The smell of alcohol burned my eyes, nose, and throat as I took it all in.
The place wasn't... dirty, necessarily, but it was way to packed to be considered clean.
I actually felt pretty, to be honest. I never thought blonde would suit me, but the wig looked so real and I looked so much like my mom, just with darker skin. Although, she always kept it out of her face, she hated the feeling of hair in her eyes. Hated it.
Fiddling with the strap on my bag, I took a moment to scan the room. Keys said he had friends helping him out, but I just had to locate them-
"'Anca! It's so good to see you!" I was pulled by the elbow into a hug, and I froze up.
"Keys sent me. I'm with you guys." She? Whispered before pulling away with her arms hung loosely around my waist. I inhaled sharply.
In short terms, she was breathtaking. Dark olive skin, her curls pulled into a loose updo. She was tall, like almost six feet tall, and her eyes were a golden coffee brown. Her smile was warm, and her eyes twinkled happily. "'Anca? Are you okay?" her voice was sweet, and almost as beautiful as her.
I snapped out of it. "Oh, hey lady." Lady?! What the fuck are you doing she's so hot play it cool play it cool... "How've you been?" Why are you being so weird?! Why is your voice up so high?!
What am I doing?!
"Y'know, same old. Tim's been a pain in the ass, but other than that... pretty good." Tim? So, she's has a boyfriend. Damn.
"O-oh, Tim? How've you guys been?"
She raised an amused eyebrow. "Me and my cat, Tim, have been great." I let out an embarrassed chuckle. "Hey, wanna go get a drink? Catch up a bit?" I nodded, and she unlooped her arms and gently grabbed my hand, pulling me over to the bar.
I took a moment to steel myself. It didn't matter that this woman looked like a literal goddess, I had a mission to do. I had to focus.
"So... who's our guy?" She nodded over to a group of people in business casual as we took our seats.
"Little flannel boy with the ugly tie. Over there." She pointed him out, then softly poked my nose. "You are going to seduce him or convince him to go with you or something while me, my buddy, and Edit come to get you guys. While you're readying him, I'm going to keep an eye on his group for any other... suspicious members." She winked.
I nodded, taking it all in. "When is Keys joining the comms?" A crackle sounded in my ear.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"I'm here, B." I laughed. He's always so professional when we work with others, even if they're his friends.
"Is there anything important to know about him?" I asked, adjusting on my weirdly sticky stool.
She considered my question for a second. "Nothing much. He's sleazy, and he might be one of the higher ups. Doesn't seem like it though, does he?" I shook my head. I dusted off my skirt, fixing myself up to 'perform.'
"Thank you for the information Ms..." A delicate hand was placed on my arm, leaving a sweet, tingling feeling.
"I'm June, Lovely." She called me lovely. Oh my lord she called me lovely I'm going to explode.
