"Now, for the memory wiping spell, I don't really remember what page it was on .... " Wonbin thinks to himself while flipping through the pages of his ancient spell book.

"Wait wait wait. You're really going to erase his memories??" The older exclaimed in disbelief.

"Well, duh?? It's the emperor's order, we can't deny it." He simply goes back to flipping his spell book.

"Look. The only reason why I wanted us to volunteer is because ... I want to save this human. I know everyone says that humans are vicious, and evil, and they're dirty and blah blah blah. But I think this one is ... Different." Seonghwa poured his heart out, hoping his brother will understand, and agree with him.

"Hyung, do you know how much trouble you're going to cause if the emperor finds out?? Mom and dad could get punished, too! He might even lockdown Strictsea Kingdom and hide us away for good!" Wonbin understands his brother, but he's far more worried about too many things.

"Exactly! So just make sure he doesn't find out about it." Seonghwa replied innocently. "Look, if you help me with this, then I promise to pay you back all the seashells I owe you." He gives his brother an offer, a very tempting offer.

"Wow, do you really think I'm that easy to buy?? This is not a matter of-" While he was still blabbering, the older just cut him off with a short and simple response.

"Ten times the initial amount." Without even hesitating he makes a promise.

"Okay then, deal!" And just like that, Wonbin is now bought. "So what's your plan?" With him finally agreeing, he has to know the plan too, obviously.

Seonghwa explains that he wants to be friends with a human, because he thinks that mermaids and humans can be mutuals, and they should start helping each other out, maybe even living with each other, side by side, and not against. And all of this can be accomplished, if he starts with this human right in front of them.

Wonbin likes the idea, and initiates the first step. "So, let's wake him up, but I think we should observe him from a far at first, so we don't scare him." They then moved behind a huge rock, before starting the spell.

"Here goes nothing .... " With his hands reached towards the unconscious human's direction, Wonbin performs a spell, a dark olive cloud soon formed above the body. Tiny storms electrifying the human, waking him up in an instant.

The Park siblings quickly hides after seeing some movements from the human's limbs. Staying still as a seafloor, not making any noises.

"Ughh ... What, what happened?? Wait, where am I???" The captain slowly gains consciousness, sitting himself up on the sand.

"Is this heaven? Am I ... Dead??" Panic takes over his head as he feels his body, heavily breathing, looking around for clues.

He carefully stands up, trying to keep his balance, and walk towards a giant rock, the rock where the Park siblings are currently hiding behind.

Seonghwa was so afraid they were gonna get caught, so he quickly thought of an idea. He stares at the ground, hands palming the sand. His eyes starts to glow white, and at the other side of the island, a wave of seafoams rushes, turning into an octopus. And just like that, the human got distracted by it. "Oh, that was close." He whispered to himself.

"Whoah, where did you come from?" Hongjoong was about to ask even more questions, but then the sound of his stomach rumbling scares away all those curiosity, making him prioritize his hunger first. "Come to think of it, I haven't eaten since ... The storm, however long ago that was."

With his survival instinct, the captain went into the forest to find the materials he need so he can start a fire, and cook himself a meal, since the octopus already gave itself up.

After a few hours, Wonbin got tired so he decided to went back home earlier. Meanwhile, the older sibling stayed there longer, even until the sun sets, and the human is already finishing his meal.

"Well, I guess I just have to survive here for now. It's not that bad anyway, I've been through worse" the captain's having a monologue, trying to convince himself that it will all be alright.

Seeing how night is nearing, he choose to make a shelter, or just a place where he can rest safely. As if Seonghwa can understand the human's heart, he initiatively formed bamboos, palm leaves, vines, and other materials right behind his seat.

"Now, I should start- Whoah what?? I could've sworn this wasn't here?? Or maybe I'm still a bit dizzy from the shipwreck?" Hongjoong scratches his head, puzzled for a few minutes, then continued on to make a shelter.

Seonghwa spent the whole night observing the little human moving around, building things, sometimes he'd even hear him sing some unfamiliar hypnotizing melodies. When the human gets himself in a problem, Seonghwa would be the first one to help him out.

After making sure that the human is finally sound asleep, the mermaid giddily swims back home, humming the same melodies he heard earlier. The foolish looking smile he has right now will surely have the other question his sanity, but who cares about what other fishes say anyway.

He loves the determine look the human has, he loves his short but also long hair, he loves the red bandana covering it, he loves the way his hips sway when he walks, he loves his feet, he loves how tiny he is compared to him.

Seonghwa may not noticed it yet, but he has walked on to a path made out of deadly poisonous thorns, he has fallen into a pit deeper than his own feelings, he has developed a curse so powerful, no magic in this universe would ever be able to undo it, and the worst part is that, it all happened in less than a day.

Just to make things clear, mermaids have long tails, compared to human legs, so that's why Hongjoong is 'tiny' compared to Seonghwa 👉🐿️👈
