[ six moons after the birth of aegon the younger ]
Viserys felt as if the ground had swept off his feet within the past few moments, his grip on his cane grew tight. He despaired as he eyed the two factions that his family had been divided into. The divide which started the day young Lucerys took Aemond's eye and it grew larger today after the news of their impending doom approached them.
The news appeared in the form of a young burdened man, hatred burned in his pale lilac eyes as the man, Dragonsbane, looked at Viserys and only uttered three words.
"You doomed us"
In the arms of his son, Aegon the Younger, rested his youngest grandchild, a mere babe of six moons, innocent and oblivious to the turmoil. A stark contrast to the embittered young man before him, once King of Westeros, now consumed by the tragic demise of his mother at the hands of his own uncle. It was this tragedy that birthed his hatred for dragons, the very creatures that had claimed his beloved mother's life.
Viserys felt as if the heart was ripped open, bleeding sluggishly on the ground as he recounted the deaths. Deaths at the hands of his own sons. Kinslayer. The son of Rhaenyra Targaryen spat at his sons, Aegon and Aemond.
Aemond, his second born, the betrothed of his granddaughter Visenya had sealed his family's fate the second he killed his nephew, Lucerys. Sweet Lucerys who died with fear in his veins, but bravery marked his bones as he crashed into the sea below.
And Visenya, fierce and stubborn Visenya, the very image of her mother Rhaenyra and her great-grandmother Alyssa, died alone, she bled in her chambers surrounded by her enemies' corpses. The young girl who was destined to become a great Queen was dead.
Viserys closed his eyes in defeat before opening them and glancing at his daughter who was crying, her mask of indifference was broken at learning the fates of her children. The Heir to the Iron Throne had her third born clutched to her as her other children surrounded her, shaken by their grim fates.
"Rhaenyra-" Viserys called out in a desperate attempt, but he flinched at the fury that graced the face of his Aemma's daughter.
"I have no desire for your empty words, Your Grace," she spat, her grief-laden voice trembling with anguish and resentment towards the man who had failed them all.
Viserys flinched, desperation clawed in his throat as he watched his family being further divided, his wife and children stood at the other side, while Rhaenyra with her family stood on the other side. Viserys stood in the middle, his heart aching at the divide in his family as he desperately tried to mend the fractures, "My child, it is the future. We can unite the House of the Dragon again."
