Streber reclined back into his chair with a groan, he rubbed his tired eyes as he looked at his lamp. It was the only lightsource in the room so the area surrounding him was dark. Streber was so fucking tired that he didn't even hear floorboards creaking behind him-- or he just didn't react.
"I know it's you, honey.." Streber sighed out and turned his chair around to look up at his wife, [READER], who was attempting to scare him from behind. "Fuck", she muttered, "How'd you know?? I thought you were busy with your... thing.", [READER] smiled warmly and reached her hand over to Streber's hair, trying to 'fix' it the best she could.
"It could've either been you or Ethan... I kind of regret giving him the key to our house now," Streber let out a small chuckle as he grabbed [READER]'s wrist, moving it away from his hair and moving it to his face. "Did you come down here to tell me not to overwork myself? I'm a grown man, love, I know when to take a break."
He feigned a small smile, but continued to look at [READER] with love. "Still," she began, "I haven't seen you since Saturday! I know that Halloween is soon, but I know that you'll get this done better when you've gotten sleep.." Streber groaned at her words, hating how true she was being. He let out a reluctant sigh as he got up from his chair. His legs felt numb and wobbly due to him sitting down for a while. Not having the strength to stand, Streber leaned on [READER], "You should carry me to bed." He mumbled under his breath.
"Nah, I shouldn't," [READER] chuckled and kissed Streber on the forehead, who just let out a small, tired whine.
