Serena
(Age 17)

Sitting on the library steps past closing time really made me rethink my life choices.

Ugh if only there were better sparking up places.

I lit up my joint, my lungs immediately feeling the warmth once I inhaled, letting out a cloud of smoke into the air.

The moon was at it's brightest, having no cloud in sight gave me a full view of the boston roads, completely clear of any person or car.
Perfect.

My thoughts cleared at the serene sight, hitting the joint constantly to try and capture this moment for whenever I need a happy place.

I sighed, looking around and furrowing my eyebrows seeing that there was something moving about ten feet away from me, not sure if it was my mind playing tricks on me or real life.

Throwing the end of the joint in the trash, I moved closer to what was making the grunting sounds. Almost screaming at the adorable black kitten that was playing with a twig in the flower beds.

I carefully approached it, patting the concrete so it could run to me, it seemed skittish seeing me at first but after giving it a chance to study me, it ran towards my open palms.

"Didn't think I'd ever find such a cute party crasher."
I giggled out as I was touching his soft fur. I looked around to see if there were anymore cats around but didn't see any. My heart melted when it snuggled up in the crease of my legs, forming a perfect loaf before closing his eyes slowly.

I giggled and took off my sweater to wrap around him so he could fall asleep on the way home. Content and (very) blasted, I started walking towards the two blocks I parked my car in. The hairs on the back of my neck stood at the feeling of having eyes on me.

"God damn chula, you alone babygirl?" A voice hollered from behind me.
I tightened my grip on the kitten in my arms and started walking faster, "Aw don't be like that baby, I'll show you a good time." my heart dropped as I heard footsteps thundering behind me.

Before I could even react I was suddenly grabbed and pushed into something warm, and very hard, stiffening at the collision and feeling a strong arm around me.

I tensed and before I could react a deep chuckle cut through the air, "Relax princesa, I'm not going to hurt you but I need you to be very still okay?"

I glanced up, silver eyes that shined like stars gleamed back at me, taking in the darkness that danced around his features.

"Si te acercas a ella te parto la madre, atrévate maldito."

My breath hitched, his accent hard to place yet too familiar. He squeezed me harder and pushed my head further in his chest, muffling the words from the figure behind me but I heard a clear ella es mia.

I hitched a breath hearing footsteps retreating, wondering how he could've gotten to me so fast when there was no sign of anyone else seconds ago.

I'm going to become a documentary.

I closed my eyes, waiting for the stranger with the nice eyes next move. I furrowed my eyebrows at the feeling of his hands dropping and him taking a step back from me.
