{26}-Countryside

**Yujin's POV**

Wonyoung is accompanying my family as we take a trip to Andong to visit my grandma. We go every year during summer especially in the more recent years because she's growing old and my dad wants to see his mother as much as he can before she passes away. He goes by himself often, but he tries to make us all go at least once a year so that we can remember and cherish her while she's still alive. I always hated these trips because the countryside is so damn boring. There is close to no internet there so it winds up being Yuyeon and I playing card games for a whole weekend. The weather also sucks; its constantly burning hot and dusty with all the tractors driving by. I used to have a good relationship with my grandma which faded when news of my delinquency struck her. She constantly lectures me and ridicules me to my parents. That's why every time we do go, I just stay in my room the whole weekend, adamant to never be in the same room as her. Maybe my acceptance to KU will please her now... I should brag.

Regardless, Wonyoung is joining us this year both by my parent's suggestion and from her insistence. My parents figure that if I'm gonna be stuck in a room all weekend, constantly complaining, then I might as well bring my girlfriend so I'll be forced to not complain anymore. As if. After Wonyoung was made aware of this, she practically begged me to let her tag along. I was hesitant to agree for obvious reasons but her cuteness soon easily broke my defenses. Since we're going to opposing colleges, she's been MUCH more insistent on being together all the time. I didn't mind this at all, but going to the countryside with my grandma was seriously a stretch to that mindset. 

The main concern that I had with Wonyoung tagging along was serious though. I actually did not know what my grandma would think of me having a relationship with another girl... Let's get this straight: she's old, like REALLY old, so I could not predict her views on this relationship. I stated this issue to my parents and Wonyoung but they both seemed to be mad at me for trying to hide my sexuality and to be afraid to show off that I chose Wonyoung as my lover. Well in Wonyoung's words, "by the end of the weekend, I'll show her why Yujin being lesbian is better." There may have been a wink and kiss involved in that quote too...

The doorbell suddenly rang and I rushed to open the door. There she was in all her glory. Her white tank-top covered by a green flannel (my flannel actually), with shorts and her new green-and-white shoes, carrying a fully packed backpack.

I quickly whispered, "There's still time to back out now. You could always say that you need to baby sit Leeseo or...or maybe YOUR grandma is sick."

She slapped me, "don't be silly AnDaengDaeng." She brushed past me, "Hello Mr. and Mrs. An!" She ran up to hug my parents which became commonplace somehow.

"Ahh Wonyoung, I told you! You can just call us Mom and Dad."

I quickly ran up to stop this conversation, "let's go shall we? Yuyeon has been waiting for so long to see her grandma!"

"No, I hav-" I covered her mouth, "I'm sure Wonyoung wants to see grandma too."

My mom shot me a confused look, "I- uhh okay...get in the car."

This car ride was killing me. I sat in the middle of Yuyeon and Wonyoung, very reminiscent of Halloween during the Hedge Maze. I couldn't stand sitting next to Wonyoung and not being affectionate with her. I had to suppress myself since we were in front of my parents. The most affection we did was hold hands. We spent the majority of the car ride playing with Yuyeon on the Switch. We played a multitude of games together until the console ran out of battery. We then converted to watching a movie together. It wasn't long before we both fell asleep. I only know this because I fell asleep in the middle of the movie and was awoken by my dad announcing that we've arrived.
