9: Haunting

Hanni POV:

To be fair, it was quite insane how things could change just because you were paying more attention.

Like:

• How family members and friends were praising way more Hanni now that she became an Idol in a successful debut group;

• Or how Hyein was slowly becoming more responsible and a little less the giant clumsy kid they used to know;

• Or how Minji was suspiciously avoidant lately.

• Or how Danielle was in a particular cheerful tone when she was hanging with a certain student.

• Or how the same student was surely a boy AND a girl magnet.

All right,

Let's assume that among the exhaustive list from above, some topics were more pestering Hanni's mind than others.

You know, even if the artist was now aware that she possessed a 'special place' on the enigmatic Kitty's heart, for the very first time of her life, Pham Hanni was somewhat.. not insecure but, a tad susceptible ?

How can she explain herself ?

Well, first of all, the brunette Aussie never found herself in a similar situationship like the 'Kang Haerin's case'.

She absolutely was not a non-committal type.

Neither a person known to come around elusive circumstances -she was smart enough to avoid those- nor people in general.

It usually was the other way around.

Factually, she also was a pretty reserved girl when she didn't know someone or the environment enough.

Add this private self mixed with a pretty privilege card and it will give you someone that never knew how disturbing it's supposed to feel to be attracted by someone that could potentially not like you back.

Because yeah, Hanni had crushes, but the entirety of them were already crushing on her beforehand -even Huening Kai-. Making her easily having a bunch of suitors trying to woo her already, just like a leading lady.

And you know Pham Hanni wasn't a leading type when it comes to boys. She was more into watching how the person in front was trying to win her over.

She just really like to see how ambitious someone could be for her.

So, having a lotus-eater like Haerin, definitely a girl to begin with -as cryptic as hieroglyph- was somewhat confusing for the vocalist of New Jeans.

Pham Hanni likes to identify herself as someone ordinarily well-balanced -she's a Libra queen after all- confident and generally reasonable. And she swears she was like that but just NOT with Haerin Kang.

So of course it was destabilizing for the ruminating brunette, yet she made it a point to stay true to herself..

Well, to be fair she really tried to.. no joke.

That, was until the idol witnessed a pattern she wasn't quite a fan of:

'Lingering stares' from a bunch of colleagues and also grown ass people towards Haerin-ih.

No one on Hybe was blind, and so is Hanni.

Everyone would agree to say that the ginger girl was dramatically fine and easy on the eyes. But now that the artist was aware of her blooming intrigue toward the calm girl, she couldn't help to feel this dangerous rivalry growing in her heart.
