"Not half bad"

It's been a few weeks now since the troll incident and thankfully no one knew about anything and Hilda's Mum managed to convince Mrs.Halgrim to keep Hilda in our class but she was still on VERY thin ice and as of recently I found out from Hilda herself that Mrs.Halgrim's whole problem with her was that she was asking too many questions at the wrong time which I already knew since I was sitting right next to her and because of that I told her that she should write down her questions as soon as they pop in her head and when the school day ends she can just ask me about them.

Other than those after school Q&As we didn't talk or hangout much for some reason, it was like she was avoiding me which I wasn't entirely against since I really didn't wanna test my luck again anytime soon or at least that's what I wanna tell myself.

On an unassuming day I was at the cafeteria sitting alone and eating the usual peanut butter sandwich when Hilda suddenly approached me.

"Hey, Rayan do you remember the thing you asked me for in the-you-know-what accident?"

As she asked me this I looked at her with slight confusion but before I could answer she slapped a medium sized tupperware infront of me that had a slice of pie in it. That's when it dawned on me what she was talking about and I felt slightly guilty when I realized that the reason she was avoiding me was because she wanted to fulfill her promise which I honestly just spewed out in the spur of the moment.

"Uhh... Thanks?"

I said slightly awkwardly as I grabbed the tupperware and put it in my backpack to which I noticed a gleeful happy smile being drawn on her face as she turned around and walked away with a slight skip in her legs.

I didn't really care much about the pie and just continued my day normally and when I got back home from school I just threw the tupperware into the back of the fridge and closed it before returning to my regular routine of doing some errands around the neighborhood for some cash before going to the Salty Maiden where I semi-work but because I'm underaged I'm not an official employee and the only reason I could work there is because the boss pitied my situation.

By the time I had finished work it was late in the afternoon and I was walking back home but then ofcourse I stumbled upon Hilda and Frida along with David.

"What are you three doing outside? It's almost 9."

As I said that all three of them jumped in a startled manner almost as if they saw... a ghost... yeah I can pretty much guess what this is gonna be about.

"Rayan! You're not gonna believe what just happened! We were chasing after this girl- no wait let me tell you from the start, David had some nightmares and we decided to go to the sewers where we met that rat king creature which was actually quite polite- Anyway we found it that the reason David has his nightmares is because of this teenage girl so we're gonna trick her."

She said that last part with a prideful smile as if this was the best idea in the world and not just stalking a teenager.

"You have no idea how wrong this sounds. But I guess complaining isn't gonna change anything."
