He looked way shaggier than Vanessa had imagined. He was malnourished, tired and old, funny how both Ness and him had knife scar on their right cheek. The man was reading a newspaper on his front porch intentionally ignoring Vanessa, he finally finished reading the newspaper and looked at Ness.
“Robert! Are you gonna fucking go or not? I can't keep on waiting for you.” Vanessa was clearly on the verge of tears, her voice sounded weak and scratchy. Bob stood up, he walked to Vanessa holding up his hands for a hug, Ness rolled her eyes and entered her car. Robert followed and sat in the back seat of the car, Vanessa grabbed a box from the shotgun seat. “I found some of your stuff while I was cleaning the house” and then she handed Bob the box.
Robert started looking around, and pulled out something that was almost taking over the whole thing. “It's a lower leg spring lock signed by William Afton, well… when he was known as a businessman and not a serial killer. Your grandpa used to be one of the janitors for Fredbear’s when it was just starting out, it's almost like he knew that this franchise was gonna boom, he begged William to sign this piece he found in the back. He gave it to me when me and your mother first found you as kind of a gift for reaching fatherhood.”
Ness had tears in her eyes. "You're saying it as if you even had the chance to be a real father."
Bob was trying to ignore Ness. He observed the spring locks carefully, he whispered to himself. "It's on animatronic mode..." he winded something, and there was a loud click. He shaked it hard, and there was another loud click, somehow even louder than the last one. "It still works. Neat!”
Ness slammed on gas the second Bob was finished talking. “You really are a psycho. You’re lucky your dumbass is even allowed back home after what you did. Your sentence should've been longer. ” Bob continued messing around with the springlocks. But he drops it. “I didn't do anything, it wasn't me.” Vanessa was bursting into tears “Instead of being a waste of oxygen, you could've raised me and cared for me.”
Ness aggressively changed the radio as she drove. “And stop pretending like you didn’t do what they accused you of, I went through your court case you old fool. I know you tried those innocent kids who couldn't defend themselves.” She was screaming her lungs out the second they pulled up to a gas station on the side of town. Vanessa abruptly got out of the car and slammed the door behind her so hard that the car alarm got triggered.
Ness headed to the bathroom of the gas station, Vanessa entered one of the stalls, she put the lid down and sat on it, she scrambled through her fanny pack searching for something. She finally pulled out an unopened pack of cigarettes she bought months ago but was unable to even get her face close to it without feeling disgusted. She grabbed a lighter, she was psychically shaking and she dropped the lighter on the cold and dirty floor. Fortunately it didn't set the whole stall on fire, she picked it up and lit it. She then started sobbing loudly.
After a few more cigarettes she decided to finally come out of the stall. When she opened the door the gas station clerk was standing outside, she was definitely waiting for Ness to come out. “Are you okay miss?” Vanessa nodded and left the gas station as fast as possible. Robert was sitting on a bench right outside holding a bag full of goods. Ness gulped “Robert how did you get that?.” She pointed at the bag. “Oh this little thing? I paid it with my own darn money!” Bob chuckled and he scratched his stubble. “A guy was trying to sell me some CDs, so I pulled out a CD I found from my stuff. It was a mint condition sighed goddamn CD of ‘Gates of sin’ his fucking jaw dropped, you should've seen that face. He gave me 150 greens and ran to his car. '' Robert sighed. “They were musical geniuses, I'd do to if I didn't have that CD myself, well I mean a couple of minutes ago.”
Ness grabbed the bag straight from Robert's hands. "What did you even get?" Bob shrugged. "You can see them for yourself young lady.” Surprisingly, it was full of vegetables and fruits. Vanessa expected cigarettes, whiskey, and maybe even some energy drinks, considering the kind of person Bob was. Ness handed the bag back. "Just make sure you don't accidentally crush them while on our way home, the roads are pretty bumpy, got it Robert?" her voice sounded absolutely weak. They got in the car and Ness started driving, it was really awkward for the first few minutes. It made Vanessa sick in the stomach thinking about how such a monster like him was sitting right behind her, acting like he never did anything wrong. “Hey Nessie, do you have any siblings? Or atleast did your mother ever remarry?” Ness thought for a moment about stupid that question was. Robert and her mother weren't even married in the first place. “She married Wilson when I was 2 and they had a daughter after a few years.” Bob nodded her head. “ Oh fucking Billy married her! That bastard.”
Robert started banging his fists on the back of Ness’ seat. “I swear to fucking God I'm gonna kill him. When I my hands on that dirty bitch I'm gonna kill him.” Vanessa stopped her car as soon as possible. “Too late Robert, he was found murdered a couple weeks ago.” Ness was scared out of her mind, she was physically shaken from how much Robert was punching her seat. She could hear Bob laughing. “Thank God, Billy was already gone and I didn't even have to lift a single finger.”
Before they could even realize they were already home, when Robert stepped out of the car, Vanessa had to physically stop him. “You're gonna have to stay in the basement and don't let my sister know you're here. I'll give you food everyday. Promise me that you won't make any loud noise or leave the basement got it?” Bob scratched his neck. “I mean I guess it's better than prison. Is there at least a sofa or a mattress there so I can rest comfortably?”
Ness sucked her teeth. “I mean I guess so.” Robert smiled “Thanks buddy!” Both of them walked to the basement. It was dark, there was a single light bulb dangling on the ceiling as the only light source. There were a few things that resembled furniture, a very old and dirty mattress, the desk Vanessa used to use when she was in elementary school and a mini fridge. The others are just piles of boxes with random junk in it.
Vanessa had left the basement, leaving Robert all alone. He's been released for almost a decade but he wast ready to go back to society. He knew he was a bad man to others, but to himself he felt like an actual Saint. He did what he was told, honestly it was not even his fault… Bob rushed to his box sitting in the corner of the room, he pulled out the springlocks. Robert carefully winded it till it clicked and shaked it, the springlock clamped together, to him this always felt great. The thought of how he was holding such a dangerous weapon, how the locks feel on the outer shell when it's closing in, those felt so stimulating. Nothing could replace the feeling. He giggled to himself while he deactivated and reactivated the springlocks over and over.
The interviewer entered the room, she was holding a small clipboard in her hand. She sat down in front of Sadie and gave her a friendly smile to make Sadie feel more welcome here. "Hello, Miss Shelly." Sadie shakes her head in disapproval. "It's Pines, not Shelly. At Least not anymore.” The interviewer nodded.
“So Miss Pines, We'll try to keep you anonymous as possible when this reaches the press. First question: when and why did you leave your hometown, is it possible that you knew what would've happened if you had stayed just a little bit longer.” Sadie scratched her neck “This is kind of an iffy topic for me. If I remember correctly I ran away a week before the incident. I got pregnant and my boyfriend said we were gonna move to the next state with a bus and start a family there. He stood me up and I waited for hours, so I just decided to take the bus all alone. When the bus reached Colorado, I received the news that Susie was missing. Even in Colorado they were looking for her… each moment that passed I felt terrified, feeling like she's probably gone. And then news came about how she's definitely gone, my whole world shattered. I have a lot of siblings you know, and they are all very important to me as the oldest one.” The interviewer picked up the pen from the table and started writing it down on her notepad.
“Second question: How did you feel when William Afton was found as the killer?” Sadie had tears running down her face. “I felt betrayed, we all used to call him uncle. We all thought he was the coolest dude ever, he wasn't creepy, he had a really nice smile that just warmed up the whole room, he didn't look or act like a serial killer. ” Sadie and the interviewer had a back and forth for a couple of minutes, each answer Sadie gave she sounded sadder. “Miss Pines, This is the last question. Have you ever wanted to go back to Hurricane?” Sadie sighed. “I wish I could, but that place is evil I tell you, evil... It's worse than the deepest pits of hell. Besides I have a family here, I have a granddaughter I have to take care of! I'd rather sell my soul to the devil than step foot in that place!.”
The interviewer nodded her head, satisfied with her answers. “That's a wrap! Thank you for joining us! You’ve made an excellent contribution to the program.” Sadie wiped her tears with the back of her palm, she was about to leave the room but the door was completely locked. The interviewer had a wicked smile on her face, she crouched down to grab something under the table. It was a gas mask, the interviewer put on the mask and shouted. “Fire!” purple gas started coming from the vents, flooding the entire room. Sadie was terrified of the unknown. She tried kicking the door, but her weak body couldn't handle it, she collapsed on the floor. She tried to scream but nothing would come out of her mouth, she couldn't find the strength to even move. Sadie began seeing colorful spots in her vision, she felt like she was getting sleepy. After a few seconds of her trying to move, her body went limp, the interviewer looked satisfied, she shouted “She's gone! Close the gas pipes!”
