It's a new sunny day, and I don't know if it's just my gut feeling or the nice weather, but something tells me it's going to be a good day today, and I hope I can believe in it too.

I go downstairs to make breakfast. Probably going to make pancakes or something similar because I feel like I need pancakes to get through the day.

But I don't get far before I meet JJ Maybank in the hallway just before the kitchen. I stop in surprise and look at him as if he's some kind of ghost. What is he doing here? My parents can't know he's here.

Suddenly, my mom comes walking, and she smiles at JJ, not reacting at all to his presence. She smiles at me and stops next to JJ. "Good morning, sweetheart. You slept in today," she says, putting an arm around JJ's shoulder. "Have you two met before?" she asks then.

"Yes," says JJ.

"No," I say, which makes JJ look a bit disappointed at me, but my mom doesn't react. On the contrary, she seems very happy.

"What is he doing here?" I ask, still surprised.

"He's started working for us. He's going to take care of our garden and some chores around the house. Mrs. Williams decided not to continue after her sick leave," says my mom. Mrs. Williams was our maid before. She was for almost five years until she got sick due to some injury two months ago. I liked her a lot, so it feels sad that she quit.

And the thought of us having a Pogue wandering freely in our house. My dad and brother would go crazy, so where they got this from, I don't know.

"I'm not sure if Nathan—" I start.

"He already knows about this, and we've talked to him. He promised to leave JJ alone when he's at our house working," says my mom.

JJ meets my gaze, and it almost looks like he wants to say sorry. He looks like he feels very dumb. Which he kinda should be because he's going to end up in so many fights working for my family. He'll have to face both Nathan and Rafe, and if it's really bad, it might even be the other Kook guys too.

"I'll show you your tasks in more detail," says my mom, placing a hand on JJ's shoulder and walking into the living room. I continue to the kitchen and am about to gather all the ingredients for my pancakes when the doorbell rings, making me sigh loudly before going to answer it.

I open the door and am greeted by Sarah, who has a big smile on her face. "Hey, Addie, I was wondering if you might want to swim at my place? I know I should have called you, but my phone had no battery," says Sarah.

I smile. "Of course, I'd love to," I say and quickly grab an apple before leaving the house to walk over to the Cameron's house where their large pool is located at the back of their house.

I already have my bikini on underneath my clothes, which I changed into right when I woke up. Sarah takes off her dress, revealing a light orange bikini that suits her well. Mine is light purple.

I barely have time to glance before Sarah runs in and jumps into the water directly, and without hesitation, I follow her, the cool water meeting my body instantly. It feels good to cool off on hot days like these.

"We should have a pool party sometime," says Sarah, smiling before disappearing underwater. It actually sounds like a fun idea. Last year, we went to a pool party that was very fun until it turned into some drama.

I also swim underwater, and my face meets the cool water. When I come up from the surface, I see Sarah sitting on the edge of the pool, so I swim over to the edge and sit down next to her.
