Kiara asked if Sarah and I wanted to hang out with the Pogues today, but I was a bit hesitant at first because of Rafe and everything. He doesn't want me to hang out with them, and neither does my dad. Actually, I'd say my whole family feels that way. But then I thought about it more and realized I have my own choices, and in a month, I won't be living here anymore, so why not take some risks and sneak around a bit?

I've almost walked all the way from my house to John B's, and the sun is burning against my skin. I'm not sure why I decided to walk in the first place, but mostly it was so that no one would suspect anything.

Sarah is already there, so at least she managed to get there without anyone noticing, but she only left a few minutes before me.

I'm just wearing a tank top and very short shorts, and I didn't put on any sunscreen today either because I forgot. Sometimes I'm a bit forgetful and not so smart, and my mom wouldn't like the idea if she knew.

What doesn't help is the headache I have left from yesterday's party, which ended with me getting a bit too drunk. Maybe it was because I had a hard time processing the words Rafe said, which kept repeating in my mind all evening.

I arrive at John B's and see the others sitting outside and talking to each other. They smile at me as I approach them. At least they were ready for me to come this time.

"Hey," I say and sit down between Sarah and Kiara.

"Hey Addie," Kiara says, giving me a hug. "I'm glad we're all together again."

"So now that we're all here. What do you want to do?" John B says.

"How about we go surfing?" JJ suggests, which makes Sarah and me pull a face. Surfing is something we don't like that much.

"We know you three can't surf because you're Kooks," JJ says, nodding at us girls. "But you can come along."

"I actually can surf, I just don't like it that much anymore" I say which makes JJ look at me confused.

"Really?" He asks.

"Yes, but please I'm not doing it" I say.

"I'm letting you go for now, but the next time you're showing me your skills" he says.

"Yeah, maybe we can sunbathe for now instead," I say, and the others agree.

The beach is right next to John B's house, so it's not far for us to walk. The only annoying thing is that we have to help carry the big, bulky, dirty, sandy, and oily surfboards to the beach.

The sand burns against my feet when we get to the beach. The guys are quick to swim away with their surfboards while we girls find a good spot on the beach where we lay in our bikinis and sunbathe our already sunburned bodies.

"I heard you were at a party yesterday. How was it?" Kiara asks while lying on her stomach with her sunglasses on.

"Really good actually," Sarah says and smiles.

"Yeah, it was nice," I say, and my thoughts keep going back to Rafe's words.

"What's wrong, Adeline?" Kiara asks.

"What?" I ask.

"You look like you're thinking about something," Kiara says.

"Is it because she might be pregnant?" Sarah says.

Please, don't remind me...

Kiara looks at me in surprise. "What, seriously?!"

"Yeah, we had unprotected sex and I'm waiting to test myself, but please don't remind me, I'm already anxious about it all the time, so please don't remind me," I say and sigh.

"Sorry," Sarah says.

"It's okay, Sarah," I say and smile at her.

Kiara puts her hand on mine. "It will work out, sweetie," Kiara says and gives me a smile.

"Thanks," I say and smile at my wonderful friends.

I'm glad I have them.

"So Addie, your birthday is tomorrow," Sarah says while smiling at me.

I had almost forgotten. There's been so much going on lately that I almost forgot about my birthday. It's a bit crazy when you think about it. But it's true nonetheless.

"Yeah, it's going to be so much fun," Kiara says.

Sorry for such a short and boring chapter and almost nothing happened, but I got rushed and don't have time to write more for this chapter, and I kind of thought it was a boring chapter anyway. That's why the next one will be longer because it's Addie's birthday!! :) it'll be out in a few minutes maybe five
