~ Chapter 3 ~
As my Aunt Matilda's plain, brown car drove out of view. I wanted to scream.
THIS. Was my new school for a while. PUBLIC EDUCATION. I couldn't believe it. My parents said something about my citizenship said I couldn't go to private school. Great. Just great. Oh. And in the meanwhile, I had no idea where my homeroom was! My wonderful (note the sarcasm) Aunt Matilda had forgotten to give me my schedule!
As I saw it, I had two options. a) Go in the bathroom and try to ask someone for help. or b) Walk around and try to find a map or office or something. I was going to go with a, since the bathrooms were in plain view, and I hopefully wouldn't get lost walking to them. I picked up my thin backpack and headed towards the bathrooms.
In the bathrooms, I expected to see lots of girls doing makeup, and hair, but there was only one. I guess it was because class had started 10 minutes ago. The girl was about as tall as me, if a little shorter, and had long black hair down her back. Loud sobs shook her body.
"Um...Hello?" I started to ask.
She kept sobbing.
"Well, I...I'm new here and I...um...I can't find my...Are you okay??" I finally got out.
"Do I look okay?!" She snapped.
"Well..no but...I..." I started.
"Ugh! Look, I'm already having a bad day. Are you trying to make it worse for me?" She screamed.
"No..! Not at all! It's just, I'm new here, and I.." I tried to say what I was thinking but the words weren't coming out right.
"Sorry." She said. "Look it's just I spilled ketchup all over my white jeans! And it looks..well, it looks bad. And I don't wanna have a bad impression on the first day!" She cried.
"Look...I'm sorry...there's nothing I can do to help...." I started "Or maybe there is." I said with a sly smile.
I was wearing a short skirt, but with leggings on underneath. I pulled her into a bathroom stall and took off my skirt and leggings, gave her the leggings, and put my skirt back on. It was definitely not what I usually wore, because I didn't like to show so much skin, but sacrifices must be made to find homeroom. Turns out, we had the same homeroom, which meant we had the same schedule.
"Thank you, thank you, thank YOUU!" She squealed looking into the bathroom mirror at her outfit on lunch break.
"No, thank YOU!" I giggled. "If you hadn't helped me I would be still wandering the halls!"
"By the way, I never got your name!" I said
"It's Jennifer, and yours?" She questioned.
"Annabelle," I said smiling.
"Well cummon 'Belle! Let's see if we can survive lunch!" She exclaimed.

A few girl talks, funny texts, confessions, and truth or dares later, Jen and I were pretty tight. We went to all our classes together and told each other everything. She was always obsessing over her boyfriend Nick. I didn't see what made her like him so much. He was just an average guy with shaggy brown hair, and brown eyes. The thing that irked me was that sometimes he was a little too physical. For me, my dream guy would be sweet on the inside, and doesn't matter what his physical appearance is. Well...on the other hand... I would like for him to be attractive. ;)
"Omg! 'Belle!" She squealed my name running up to me.
"Nick asked me to go to Zach's party with him! The BIGGEST party of the year!" She practically screamed in my ear because the classroom was so loud. We were supposed to be in study hall, but really it was an old guy in a desk snoring. Everyone took this as an opportunity to talk and text on their phones, until the principal walked in. Which happened, about every day.
"That's great!" I replied, "But isn't that party like, populars only?"
"No!! This year he's inviting the whole sophomore class! I've heard his house is HUGE. I can't wait! You are soo totally going. Even if I have to drag you myself!" She kept going on.
Zach Peterson. He was like the most popular sophomore in our whole high school. Probably because of the fact that his parents had enough money to send 13 kids to college at the same time, or because he was a jock, or maybe because he was pretty attractive. Everyone wanted to get into his party because it was 'exclusive' which basically meant all populars. I found this a little stupid because, being rich, cute, and muscular is nothing if you aren't smart. And from what I knew, Zach was failing math right now. I didn't care about going to his 'exclusive' party because if he invited the whole class, it wasn't exclusive. I tried to explain this to Jennifer, but she wasn't getting the message. I groaned. The bell rang, signalling the end of the school day.
"Bye Jen!" I yelled "Text me I gotta go!"
