Making Progress

The next morning, Charizard awoke with a large yawn. Last night was one of the best nights of sleep he'd had since Greninja got injured, and Arceus knows he needed it.

What he didn't expect was the reactions of the other Pokémon when he woke up.

He already expected that the others wouldn't expect him to be there, especially considering he wasn't there when they initially went to sleep. What he wasn't ready for was how welcoming they were.

Charizard kept telling himself since this whole mess started that the group would despise him after this. He severely wounded one of their own, to the point where his life hung in the balance. Why wouldn't they hate him for that?

But no, except for only one of them, they were all actually happy he was there with them. They'd all been worrying about him since they got here.

Noivern took an immediate liking to him. Seeing another large, winged Pokémon gave him someone to relate to.

Hawlucha requested a sparring match between the two of them. Though Charizard turned him down, he promised they would eventually.

Pancham immediately got on Charizard's good side. The little panda had spunk and wouldn't take shit from anyone, and he earned the dragon's respect.

Luxray simply told him that she was glad he was okay.

Goodra gave Charizard a large hug to try and make him feel better. Despite his attempts to look like he didn't care, even he had to admit she was a good hugger.

Talonflame was attempting to split up an argument between Bunnelby and Chespin, requesting Charizard's help. All it took was the dragon picking both of them up for the arguing to permanently stop.

Dedenne was still reluctant to approach Charizard, as she was still scared of him. The large dragon could easily eat her if he got bored enough. The dragon could tell she was scared, but decided to let it be. She'd talk to him whenever she was good and ready.

"Alright everyone! Breakfast is ready!"

The group of Pokémon immediately began running towards the sound of the voice. It was a female one.

Charizard then felt someone pat his leg. It was Pancham.

"C'mon man, Serena's Pokémon food is the best! You gotta try some!"

Normally, Charizard would have just huffed and turned him down. But... he didn't. He laughed, bending down to reach the panda at leg better.

"Let's hope you're right." He said. "Nothing can be more bland than the food Alain buys me and the team."

He then picked up Pancham, to his surprise, and carried him over to the rest of the group.

Serena... Braixen, Sylveon, and Pancham's trainer. He knew nothing about her other than she performed, and that she liked Greninja's trainer. Ash, he recalled his name was.

He saw the girl passing out bowls of food to the individual pokemon, with Sylveon helping out. No doubt Braixen was still with Greninja. Charizard set down Pancham, and waited for everyone else to get food.

At least, that's how it was supposed to go until Serena noticed Charizard off to the side by himself.

"Oh! Charizard!" She said, her smile warm and inviting. "Never thought I'd see you out here."

"Grr.. rargh..." The dragon muttered under his breath, as if saying 'don't remind me.'

"Well don't worry, I've got a bowl for you right here. It's usually in case anyone wants extra, but you can have it."
