Blair's POV

We had the funeral yesterday and Christian and I were flying back to Phoenix today. He woke me up around nine and we got ready for our flight. I got dressed in leggings and a Brewers hoodie while Christian showered and got dressed. Donny dropped us off at the airport and we got on our flight around noon. We landed in Phoenix around four and Christian drove us back to my place. The team had the day off and Enzo came over with Travis, Ryan, and Chase, bringing pizza with them.

"How are you holding up," Ryan asks me.

"Decent. It's hard losing someone, especially when it's unexpected," I say.

"Were you close with your mom," Chase asks.

"We were pretty close. I'm an only child, too."

They nod and we eat with a movie playing in the background. I curl into Christian's side and he rubs my arm. The guys leave around eight and Christian puts the leftover pizza in the fridge. He sat on the couch and I lay in his lap while we watched a movie, his fingers playing with my hair. He's been so sweet to me this past month and I was starting to like him more than a friend. I knew he felt the same way but I didn't want to start something when he was leaving for the first regular season series next week. I sit up and curl into his side, my head resting on his chest. He wraps an arm around me and we end up falling asleep on the couch.

I woke up around seven and saw Christian asleep. I moved from his arms and started getting ready for my rotation. I changed into my scrubs and walked back to the kitchen. I heard him wake up and he rubbed his eyes as he looked at me.

"You should probably get going so you're not late," I tell him.

"Will you be alright today," he asks.

"Yeah. Focus on your game today and I'll text you if I need to talk."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

He pulls me in for a hug and kisses my head.

"I'll talk to you later."

He grabs his things and leaves. I finish getting ready and head to the hospital, stopping at Starbucks on the way. I walk in and head to the nurses' station.

"How're you doing, honey," Pam asks me.

"I'm alright. All things considered."

"That's good. How are things with Christian?"

"We're taking things slow. He went with me to Milwaukee and met my family."

She nods and I start my rotation. Christian checks on me throughout the day and I assure him I'm fine. I take a break around 6:30 and catch some of the game while I eat. Pam lets me leave around 11:30 and I head back to my apartment. I walk into my building and see Christian sitting in the lobby.

"What are you doing here," I ask as he hugs me.

"Wanted to see how you were doing after today," he says.

I pull away and see a Chipotle bag sitting on the bench.

"I already ate," I tell him.

"A little midnight Chipotle never hurt anyone."

I smile and we head up to my apartment. We walk in and he sits at the bartop. He pulls out the food and hands me my bowl.

"How was the game," I ask.

"It was alright. We ended up tying but I didn't play so hot. I went 1-4 during my at-bats."

"Well, the season hasn't officially started yet."

"I know but like you said, it's my first season with the team and I have to show them I'm serious."

"You're only 26. There's still time."

"I guess you're right," he shrugs.

"You know I'm right."

I take my hair out of the bun it was in and run my fingers through it.

"Are you staying the night," I ask as I clean up the garbage.

"Yeah. I can if you want me to."

"Alright."

"You sure you're alright," he asks.

"Just trying to process everything."

He grabs my hand and rubs his thumb over my knuckles. I walk over and wrap my arms around him from behind. I rest my head on his shoulder and look up at him.

"I know it's early but what are we," I ask.

"What do you mean?"

"Are we friends? Are we more than friends?"

"I haven't really thought about it."

"When are gonna go out again?"

"I don't know. You have your rotations and after tomorrow, we won't see each other until the series here against the Diamondbacks in May."

"Breakfast before we go to work tomorrow?"

"We can do that."

"WOOHOO!"

He chuckles as I dance around the kitchen.

"Are you not tired," he asks.

"I may or may not have had a Monster while I ate dinner."

He smiles and I continue dancing. He plays some music from his phone and grabs my hands, twirling me around. He pulls me into his chest and wraps an arm around my waist, my hand going on his shoulder. We sway to the music and he kisses my head. I look up at him and sigh.

"Everything alright," he asks.

"Now I'm tired."

He chuckles softly and kisses my forehead.

"Thank you for going with me this weekend," I whisper.

"Of course, B."

"B?"

"Just a nickname for you."

"I like it."

He twirls me around and I giggle. We head down the hall to my room and I change from my scrubs in the bathroom.

"Do you want me to drop you off and then I'll pick you up after the game," he asks as I walk back into the bedroom.

"Sure."

"Do you want me to bring Chipotle?"

"If you want to," I chuckle softly.

I climb under the sheets and he lays on my torso, my fingers playing with his hair. He kisses my collarbone and we fall asleep a few minutes later.
