"My town was a wasteland"
"Shithole." I mumbled to myself as I wandered through the high street, eyeing the graffiti covered walls.
There has to be somewhere else waiting for me."Full of cages full of fences"
Walking past the dog kennel was like walking past a store filled with alarms and whistles. I felt bad that I couldn't help the poor dogs, but they're probably safest in that kennel.
"Pageant queens and big pretenders"
"I'll be big one day, I just know it!" I heard people promise their friends and family every day.
"I have the talent, I just need my big break!" It always felt more like they were promising themselves, not their loved ones."But for some it was paradise"
I suppose I could see how tourists would want to see the area – it looks nice from the outside. The cafes are alright too.
"My boy was a montage"
There he was. Right on the border of the town, as promised.
"You came."
"You called.""A slow motion love potion"
"Y'know, I sometimes think you like me more than I like you." I muttered to him, my hand intertwined with his.
"What makes you say that?" He gently replied.
"Because of how long I took to love you." I looked up into his eyes.
"That doesn't matter, what matters is that you love me now, right?"
"... Right.""Jumping off things in the ocean"
"But I can't swim!"
"You have me, and I won't let anything happen to you. Promise."
I smiled to myself at the memory. But I couldn't dwell on it for too long.
"I need to tell you something.""I broke his heart 'cause he was nice"
"What?! No, you can't do this! I thought we were okay!!" His frustrated shouts echoed in my mind.
"We were- no, we are. But I have things I need to do, and I can't just drag you along with me. It wouldn't be fair to you." I could feel the tears gathering in my eyes as if they were throwing a party.
"Fair?" He echoed, "do you think any of this is fair?!""He was sunshine, I was midnight rain"
