Author's Note:

So many tests, so little time! Anyways, I have had this chapter written, but I really didn't want to post it until after I knew what was going to happen next. This one has romance and it is kind of weird having it in a guy's P.O.V. I am falling behind on updating, but please do not give up on this story. I owe you a long explanation, but who is going to read this anyways. [=

Thank you to all that have voted, commented, and read  this story.

The 34th Floor

Chapter 12:

Noah

The first thing I thought of when Cade mentioned Rachel’s disappearance was that we’d all do better without her. At first, she seemed really nice and polite, but the minute we stepped foot into this room, she has been acting rather rude and obnoxious. I guess I really hate her so much because she almost got Grace killed when she had are go back and get her heels.

As Grace and Cade were quick to dash out the door, I was slow, observing my surroundings closely. I made sure that there weren’t any traps or obstacles lied out. I didn’t want anyone else to die especially after what happened to Sarah. She was extremely strong for being able to bare so much pain. Blood was draining out of her body like a broken facet, yet she had barely whimpered. It was a shame that a brave and smart girl like her was gone from this world now.

I heard a feminine shriek just as Grace and Cade had turned a corner. Cade seemed frantic as he skidded left then right in search of Rachel. Grace, calmer, but just as concerned, tried to stay in foot with Cade, but was slaking behind, unable to keep up with his quick pace. Slow, and the calmest of the three, I let my eyes trail up and down the familiar stoned walls and the rather recognizable structure. I felt a sense of déjà-vu as I jogged down the narrow hallway. The sudden rush of claustrophobia came rushing back to me and so did the memories of being within these walls.

“Cade!”

“Noah!”

“Cade!”

Rachel’s voice came repeatedly, calling for either Cade or me. Grace had halted to a stop for a second, looking puzzled and hurt all at the same time. However, she recovered quickly when she heard Rachel’s screeching in pain. Cade looked around frantically in search of Rachel’s voice while I increased my pace in order to catch up with the two of them.

“Rachel?” Cade called out, unsurely.

“I’m…I’m here,” Rachel responded in a huff.

“What happened?” Cade asked, circling around where Rachel was standing.

Grace and I stopped about a few feet away, catching our breaths.

“I…I got the heel of my shoe stuck.” She tugged on her right leg, panting as it did no good.

“Here, let me help,” Cade said with a sigh as he crouched down next to Rachel’s foot. I took a mere glance at her face, noting that her satisfying smirk had not gone unnoticed. I looked over at Grace who had grim expression on her face which most likely meant that she had seen it too. I had to urge to smirk myself, but that it would have been much too arrogant and totally unnecessary, but of course, Rachel hadn’t thought that part over like I had.

Grace and I stood back, watching Cade tactically wheeze out Rachel’s foot and shoe from the crack that it had been fixated in between. The space where the long plastered walls met the well cemented floors was where Rachel had gotten her foot squeezed in between.

“There you go, is that better?” Cade questioned, massaging Rachel’s foot a little before he got back up on his own two feet.

“I think so,” Rachel answered as she twirled her feet, letting the pain subside from her ankles.
