The years that passed

Alright I'm back to writing this hopefully it's not complete shit like before. Also I have not watched or read Naruto in 2 years so this is a bit of a change for me. So without further ado let's get back to this shitty ass fic. Thanks for reading!

2 years later...

Naruto who is now 7 years old has been slowly growing attached to the man he calls dreadful and a moron. He liked how the Hyuga was not backing down from their one sided rivalry no matter how much Naruto pushed him away. He liked how the Hyuga, no matter how much Naruto told him was annoying and insufferable would still try and get to know him.

As much as he enjoyed playing the part of the annoyed other half of the rivalry he resently had been slipping... Showing parts of himself that no one had the privilege to know about before hand. As much as Naruto loved being the unknown aspect of Neji's thoughts he couldn't always stop himself from saying too much. This caused many weak spots in his stories making them sound fabricated and impossible. Sometimes he would show too much and make 10 clones instead of 4, as making more clones is easier in his circumstance due to his large pools of chakra. Neji was as annoying as a leach and would never let up on him. He was always under his watchful gaze.

One thing Naruto hates is being watched. He had been watched for so many young years of his life either with fear or hatred that he has learned to hate when eyes are on him.

Neji on the other hand has only become more interested as the years go on. He can't help but want to know what makes the younger boy tick and what makes him hold back to such a degree. Neji has far realized that Naruto should not be in the academy but as an acting shinobi due to his impeccable control of kage level chakra. The fact that Naruto hides it so well that he is third in that class overall is insane and odd because who wouldn't want to skip the annoying school part and just get into the job. Naruto is an enigma to Neji but Neji does not give up on a challenge and Naruto is his hardest yet.

Everyday Naruto walks into class being the fourth one who is there like always. Only lee, ten-ten, and the prick himself make it there before him. Neji everyday will stare at him for a few minutes before coming to the back of the class to offer him to come by the compound and train and Naruto's answer is always the same.

"Not happening idiot" Naruto roles his eyes and avoids eye contact.

"Come on Naruto one day you have to come train at the compound, it's incredible" Neji keeps on trying.

"How many times do I need to tell you Neji, I am social suicide, if I am seen at your compound it won't be pretty." Naruto honestly wishes he could go to the compound to train it would be a good opportunity, but he also knows that the moment he steps into the compound they would kick him out.

"Naruto nothing would happen" Neji roles his eyes.

"Have you ever taken notice to how I am looked at in our town? Have you heard the things people say about me?" Naruto looks him dead in the eyes awaiting an answer.

"Naruto I have never even seen you walk home how would one see anything." Neji responds quickly.

"Ask your family or the compound owner about me even entering the grounds, trust me I won't be aloud too" Naruto says sadly.

"Really?! If I get a yes from my uncle you will come train at the compound!" Neji says excitedly.

"Yes"

"Will you go all out?" Neji asked hoping to god he says yes.

Naruto smirks "I already told you I am going all out"

Neji frowned on frustration. "I'll figure you out one day Uzumaki-Kitsune"

"Sure you will"

Class was about to start so Neji returned to his seat excited for the day to be over so he can get the conformation the Naruto can come over. The main branch has always had a tight hold on the side branch but they never restricted training and new partners were always advised. That's why he almost guaranteed that Naruto would be able to come.

The day was slow and boring like every other day in the academy but ended eventually. Neji all but ran to the compound excited to get there for the first time in his 8 years alive. He made it home quickly and went to find the head of the clan, his uncle. When he made it to his office he knocked quickly.

"Enter" said a deep voice from the other side.

"Uncle" Neji bowed in respect though he hated doing it.

"Neji? What a surprise what are you doing here" his uncle sounded genuinely shocked.

"I am here requesting that I can bring a sparing partner here tomorrow after school, he is highly skilled and in my grade and I would like to bring him here to train." Neji said with a little hope in his voice.

Hizashi Hyuga was shocked but pleased that the Hyuga prodigy found a worthy opponent his own age. "Who is this sparring partner you speak of?"

"Naruto Uzamaki-Kitsune" Neji replies curtly.

Hizashi froze. "What did you just say..."

"Naruto Uzamaki-Kitsune sir" Neji replied more questioning then anything.

"No. He can not come here... how do you even know him he is Hinata's age?" Hizashi was heavily confused. He remembers Kushina only giving birth to Naruto 3 months before Hinata.

Neji looked shocked "he is in my grade he skipped a grade sir and entered the academy early. Why is he not aloud here?"

"That boy is not well respected in this village if he is seen here it could damper peoples views on us." Hizashi did want to invite the boy but in reality the real reason is that the Hyuga council would never allow it, most people have very closed minds when it comes to the boy and the council is no different.

"But he is a good person, why is he hated?" Neji questioned.

"Thats not my story to tell. Now leave and don't ask me again." Hizashi sends him out of the office and Neji was just left confused. He told himself that he was going to try and get answers from Naruto tomorrow. Today though, he will be training on his own. Just because he doesn't have an opponent doesn't mean he should slack off on his own training.
