Juliet was sitting on the couch when she heard the front door open. Regina had returned from her office, where Juliet guessed Emma had tried to reason with her.
"Aunt Regina?" She called after the brunette, and was still met with silence. Frustrated, she stood up from her seat and followed Regina up the stairs. "Are you okay? You know you can talk to me." She followed Regina all the way to her room, but before she could cross into her room, Regina shut the door. "Please. I'm just worried about you. I mean, I know how much it sucks to lose the man you love. If anyone knows the pain you're in, it's me." Unexpectedly, the door opened. On the other side, Regina was frowning.
"I didn't lose Robin. His wife came back from the dead. His good, kind wife came back and she didn't curse an entire town. And our situations are not the same, because Robin never tried to kill my son!" She slammed the door in Juliet's face, leaving the redhead speechless. Juliet had tried to get her aunt to talk to her, only to get that thrown in her face.
Whatever. Juliet doesn't need her aunt pouting like a teenager. She turned around to go back to her room when all of a sudden, she heard a noise coming from outside. Confused, she ran to her window. Outside, there was nothing out of the ordinary, but leaving Regina's window was a crow. Juliet sighed. So Regina was sending messages without leaving her room. She went back to the hallway.
"So you won't talk to me but you'll send messages via crow? Seriously?" Back to silence. After a few seconds, the entire hallway went dark. More like the entire house. Juliet's phone started ringing. She quickly lit a fireball so she could find her phone. "Hello?" She asked.
"Juliet, it's David. There's an entire blackout all over town. Emma and I are investigating it. Do you think you can check on Henry? He's at Granny's, and he's bummed because Regina doesn't want to talk to him." Juliet scoffed.
"He's not the only one." She took a deep breath. "Yeah, I'll talk to him." She heard a relieved sigh on the other end, coming from Emma.
"Thank you. I'm really worried about..." Emma trailed off. "What the hell?" Juliet placed her hand on her hip.
"What? What is it?" She didn't get an answer because David hung up the phone. Well that was weird. Juliet put her phone in her pocket and turned back to face Regina's door. "I'm leaving. I'll be back." She relit a fireball and went down the stairs.
By the time she got to Granny's, Henry had left. Juliet huffed. Typical. No one in this town tells her anything. She pulled out her phone when she heard a car rumbling. Turning around, she saw David and Hook driving through the town. Intrigued by the phone call earlier, she ran over to follow them.
They parked at Gold's and ran inside. Juliet followed them inside to see Belle and Gold.
"It appears our honeymoon is over." Gold lamented.
"Yeah, there's an emergency." David responded. Juliet folded her arms.
"What emergency? What is happening?" David sighed.
"Emma's trapped under ice by a woman with some kind of ice magic." Gold seemed unimpressed.
"And this involves me because?" Next to Juliet, Hook rolled his eyes.
"You're the bloody Dark One. Do something." Juliet snorted. Her face fell back to normal when she caught Hook glancing over at her.
"Well I could melt the ice and destroy it with a thought." Rumple started. "But that would also destroy your girlfriend. Is that what you want?" Juliet winced. Emma being destroyed would not be good for anyone.
"No one's destroying anyone." David held his arm out to keep Hook back, trying to keep the peace. "Now, the woman who has Emma trapped is in there with her and she's looking for her sister. Name of Anna. She thinks she's in town because of something of hers she found in your shop. A necklace." That seemed to pique Belle's interest. The brunette started rifling through papers on the desk.
"Is that it?" She pulled out a notecard with a picture of a necklace with a pendant in the shape of a snowflake and handed it to Hook. He took the paper and looked at it. Juliet could see a spark of recognition in David's eyes as he took the paper from Hook.
"Wait." He looked at it for a few seconds. "I know this. I know exactly who Anna is." He handed the notecard back to Belle and turned to look at Juliet and Hook. "Let's go. I know where we're going to find her." Together, the three left Gold's, leaving the newlyweds behind.
The solution was a butcher shop that Juliet could swear she had never been to in her life. Hook went around the back while David and Juliet entered through the front door. "Be ready for anything. Peep was dangerous back in the Enchanted Forest." Juliet nodded, readying herself for magic. David pushed the door open and walked in. Inside, a woman was using a meat cleaver to hack away at chunks of meat. At the sound of the door, she looked up.
"Sorry, lambkins. We're closed." She went back to hacking, while David walked closer.
"I need your help." Peep rolled her eyes.
"You and me, we ain't friends. Not interested." She gestured to the door with her cleaver. "Get out." Juliet folded her arms, annoyed with this woman. David seemed unphased.
"You don't have your helpers here with you anymore, Peep." The woman nodded, looking over at Juliet, then back at David.
"Right. I just have one." She looked at her meat cleaver and set up to attack. "Say hello." Juliet lit a fireball in her hand, ready to defend herself against the cleaver wielding maniac. Luckily, she didn't have to because Hook came right in and grabbed her arm mid backswing.
"Don't do it." He announced, keeping her arm in place with his hook as David removed her meat cleaver. He threw it back on the table, Juliet taking a step back to avoid getting hurt, before pushing her up against the fridge.
"Now, my daughter's in trouble and I need to find the person that can help her. Someone you branded." The woman scoffed.
"I've branded a lot of people." Juliet scrunched up her nose at that. Branded? This was getting weirder by the hour, and she suddenly felt grateful that she grew up in Oz away from all of this.
"Her name is Anna. She went by Joan back then."
"Do I look like I keep a record book?" The woman asked sarcastically. "'Cause I don't." David sighed.
"Then you know what I need." Without taking his eyes off of her, he called out to Hook. "Hook, back room. She won't keep it far from her. You're looking for a shepherd's crook." When Peep tried to escape, he pushed her back firmly. Hook came back wielding a very tall staff with a bow attached to it.
"Hey, hey. That's my personal property. Give it up." David moved her over to the shelves.
"Sorry." He let go of her with one final push. She sneered as they started to leave.
"Ah, so in this world, you're a hero?" David paused, turning back to face her.
"In this world, I don't have to answer to you." Juliet decided at that moment that she really enjoyed hanging out with David. She thought he was just some valiant knight that played by the rules, but he was so much cooler. He turned back around, to where Hook was listening to the walkie talkie. "Let's go find Anna. Hook?" Juliet looked over at Hook, who appeared very worried.
"It's that woman, Elsa. She said Emma's passed out. She's freezing to death." Juliet's eyes widened. That did not sound good at all. One thing was for sure. They needed to hurry up and find Anna.
Hey guys, sorry for the long wait. I got super busy with college and I completely lost the motivation to write for a while. But I'm back and I plan on returning to normally regular updates.
I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. I especially liked having Juliet, Hook, and David all team up. I'm very excited to update this with more chapters. I'm particularly excited to get to season five when they go to the Underworld. But, we still have a season and a half before the gang meets Juliet's dad.
So stay tuned.
