CH 3 - Again [THE END.]

Waking up to the bright lights of his hospital room was a relief for the fox, not that he liked the blinding lights, but because he finally had time to himself again, time to begin recovering from the stress and paranoia caused by-

"Good to see you're awake.."

That damn hedgehog.

Any relief or joy he felt was quickly flushed out of his system like a bandage being torn off a still bleeding wound. He wasn't angry, he wasn't sad, he was simply numb. Maybe it was the exhaustion or the fact he'd just woken shortly before realizing his situation, but he felt absolutely nothing in that moment.

"..I hate you."
"..I'm sorry."

It caught Pylo by surprise to hear an apology from Sonic as he slowly turned his gaze to the hedgehog.

"..I didn't know I bothered you.. that much." He began again. "I might not know the ins and outs of it but I can tell it's.. just not gonna work out-"

"You're right."

It broke the hedgehog's heart to hear it, though he kept quiet.

"From your insistent harassment of me to how hard you try to drill in that I can trust you, I hate you. I hate how you don't listen to me both when I want to be away from you and when I'm trying to help you because neither of us have a choice. I hate that you won't take a damn hint and give me space, even after that incident. I hate that you think you can befriend everyone even when they tell you so many times.."

He paused to breathe, his chest rising and falling a bit quicker than it did before as he glared up at the hedgehog.

"I hate you."

The two were silent as Pylo slowly sat himself up in the hospital bed, leaning his back against the pillow. Sonic couldn't meet his gaze, much less look up from his hands as he gripped his head. The silence remained until Sonic decided to leave and finally give Pylo some peace.

And that's where this ends. I know, unfortunate, but I don't think I'm enjoying writing this. I have nothing against slowburns and I do enjoy them as a pairing, but fuck is it hard to come up with ideas that don't end up in it seeming forced.

Maybe I'll come back to it I don't know but I think I'm just gonna write something else lmao
