Chapter 11 - Crafting Arrows and Lu Weixi's Visit

Seated at the dining table, Ding Qiyu finally able to eat, was in an incredibly good mood, savoring every bite of her meal.

Observing Ding Qiyu's beaming delight, Lian'er felt a mix of anger and concern. She worried that Ding Qiyu might choke by eating so quickly. Annoyed, she said, "Slow down! You'll regret it if you start choking!"

Ding Qiyu gazed at Lian'er, amused, and jokingly asked, "Lian'er, were the firecrackers tasty this morning?"

"Eh? What firecrackers?" Lian'er was momentarily puzzled, but then suddenly realized, grabbing Ding Qiyu's ear and sternly saying, "You're the firecracker!"

As if her hands had been burnt by Ah Yu's ear, she quickly pulled them back, pushing away the person in front of her and swiftly changing the subject, "N-no, how could I have been bullied when I didn't even go for embroidery work today? And it's all because of you! Mother was so worried when you didn't come back. Come on, tell me, where did you go this morning? What about the firewood?"

Huh? Firewood?! Ding Qiyu realized she had left it in the woods. She sat up awkwardly, patting her head, and said sheepishly, "I forgot the firewood in the woods…" She recounted the events of the morning, deliberately omitting the perilous confrontation with the big man.

She didn't dare to voice this concern to avoid worrying them. She replied, "I have no idea. They might be refugees from somewhere. It's been restless lately, so you and Mother should also be careful when going out and avoid places with few people." Ding Qiyu consoled herself, hoping that things wouldn't turn out so unlucky. Little did she know that the three bandits, who had injured the eldest son of the general and nearly assaulted the general's daughter, had already been captured by the general's house guards.

"I see…Why wouldn't the young miss from the general's house be accompanied by ten soldiers or so when she goes out?" Lian'er muttered under her breath, "Letting you play the hero…" Her voice trailed off at the end, but Ding Qiyu didn't hear it.
