She fled. Ran as fast as her legs could carry her over the rocky, uneven ground. The branches against her face and the rocks digging into her bare feet slowed her, but she kept running. She could not stop for anything, because Innabelle had with her a small, crying child of twilight. And that child could have her killed.
It all started 10 years ago, when an old man, a prophet, had made a prophecy. The prophecy stated that one day a child of twilight shall overthrow the king, and bring about a new age. The king valued his power too much, and made a royal decree. All children born in twilight shall be brought before him, then he would judge what would happen to them. Unfortunately, the king being the wicked man he was, sentenced every twilight child to death without a second thought. Those hiding a child of twilight were also killed, along with anyone who dared question the king's orders.
Innabelle knew what would happen if she was discovered, but she had to save the child, for Twila, her newborn daughter, would be her last. Her husband was executed for helping two twilight children, students at his school, and she knew how much having a child meant to him.Carefully, in the dark of night, Innabelle used yellow paint to hide Twila's light blue skin. Hopefully she could hide Twila as a dawn child, at least until the time was right.
For many years Twila grew up with the other dawn children. She believed the lies her mother told her of all dawn children wearing paint and played her childhood away. No one questioned why she didn't have dawn powers, because some children were born without powers, and they believed her to be like this. Innabelle feared that she might be discovered, but she never was. And as days went by, Innabelle realized she would have to tell Twila the truth, and that day finally came.
Okay guys so this is my first book. This means a lot to me because I have spent a lot of time developing the plot on paper, and now it just needs to be shared with you guys.
I need feedback to keep me going (basically to remind because I am a forgetful person) so please give me your feedback. This is the Prologue so don't be too harsh.
Please don't copy my character/ or scenarios for that is copyright infringement.
All characters and scenarios are fictional and any similarities to persons (legal thingys use the word persons? Right?) or events is purely coincidental.
