I was watching TV on the couch after having put Allison to bed when I felt something in my lap. I looked down to see that Harry had placed his head in my lap which left his feet dangling off the end of the couch. He looked up at me and smiled.
"You're too long for the couch." I informed him.
"You wanna know what else is long?" He asked. I waited for him to explain.
"My pant legs."
I raised my eyebrows. Harry laughed and I rolled my eyes. I began absently twirling my finger around one of his curls. Harry turned to watch what was on the television.
"I feel like we started our relationship over." I said.
"What do you mean?" he asked, turning back to look up at me.
"It feels like we just hit the reset button and now everything's the way it was before we moved here."
"Are you saying that's a bad thing?" Harry asked slowly, looking confused.
"No. I just thought you would like to know that I'm happy."
Harry smiled; he sat up and kissed me.
"Well I'm happy that you're happy."
"Although..." I said. Panic flashed across Harry's face.
"I thought your jokes would be better by now but they still haven't improved." Harry pouted and I smiled.
"My jokes are perfect! Allison thinks I'm funny."
"Allison thinks the light in the fridge is funny too." Harry pouted some more until I felt guilty and kissed him to make up for it.
A couple days later I heard a knock on the door. I closed my laptop and got up to answer it. I opened the door to find Louis standing there with George and Evelyn.
"Hi?" I said, confused and slightly embarrassed. Harry and I had just come back from a run and I had yet to shower.
"Hey Emma." Louis looked around me.
"Is Har-"
"Louis! You're early!" Harry called. I turned to see him coming over, his hair still wet.
"You told me 9!" Louis protested.
"I did not. I said, oh wait I did say 9 didn't I?" Louis looked at me and we rolled our eyes in unison. Harry was and forever will be the most forgetful person I have ever met when it comes to time.
"Louis's here to babysit Ally." Harry told me.
"Uh, okay." I said, still confused. "What are we doing that we need a babysitter?"
"It's a surprise." Harry said with a smile. "Now go shower, you stink." He said, holding his noise. I heard George and Evelyn giggling as I walked away.
Harry covered my eyes and we walked down the street.
"This seems dangerous." I said. So far today we had gone to the open air market, rode the London Eye, traveled on the subway so I could 'compare the two', had tea at a very nice shop and walked randomly around London for an hour or two. Now Harry was leading me somewhere.
"Okay we're here." He said proudly. He removed his hands and I blinked. We were in someone's back yard off a side street. We were in the middle of a stone circle with flowers all around us. The air smelled like summer and flowers. I turned around in a small circle admiring the pinks and whites and purples.
"How'd you find this place?" I asked.
"I know a guy." Harry said behind me. I turned around and saw him on one knee. My eyes widened.
Harry smiled at me. "Since we've hit the reset button I figured it was appropriate to re purpose." I smiled too.
"Emma, last time I purposed, we were in our dirty apartment and we both had vomit and possibly pee in our hair." I laughed. "I was so nervous that I didn't get to say most of what I had planned so I'm going to say it now."
"Yes." I interrupted. Harry scowled playfully at me.
"Let me finish!"
"Sorry. Yes."
"Emma." Harry cleared his throat. "I love you with not only my whole heart but my entire being. I know what it's like to live without you. And I never want to be that way again. You make me smile more that I thought possible, and I know that you love all of my jokes." I laughed and shook my head.
"Every morning the first thing I do, well actually the second thing after I push Bella off my head, is look at you. There is nothing else that I will ever want to see first thing is the morning."
"Yes!" I said again.
"I'm almost done, hold on." Harry said.
"Emma Knightly. I love you, as you might already know. Will you do me the honor of finally marrying me?"
"Yes!" I screamed. Harry slipped the ring on my finger and then stood up and hugged me.
"I love you." I said.
"Guess what." Harry said, pulling away.
"What?"
"I love you too." I rolled my eyes and then kissed him.
