Luke watched as the waves crashed against the shore. His brother, Samuel, was sitting, topless, on the sand. Luke's brown feet seeped through the wet sand, as if they were trying to escape.
"Lukey, don't just stand there," Samuel smirked.
"Leave me alone, Sam," Luke muttered.
"Fine, if that's what Lukey wants," Samuel chuckled.
"I already told you, that's not funny!" Luke shouted.
"For you? Maybe not, for me? Haha, now that's a different story," Samuel smiled.
"Whatever, just- Just-" Luke searched for his words. "Just leave me alone!"
Samuel rolled his eyes and went back to breathing in the ocean air. Luke scooped up a pile of wet sand and threw it at the waves, then watched as it splattered everywhere as the waves consumed it. He walked towards a shady tree, for it was blazing outside. Luke laid out blue striped towel under the tree and stretched out. He picked up his sunglasses, put them on, laid down, and fell asleep on the towel. A few hours later he woke up only to see Samuel was not in his usual spot in the sand. He looked around and realized Samuel was nowhere to be seen.
"Samuel, this isn't funny!" Luke said, glancing around again.
He picked up his phone to text Samuel.
Where did you go?
He typed and typed. He kept spamming until he finally realized, his brother wouldn't respond.
"This must just be one of his practical jokes," Luke rolled his eyes. "Or maybe it's not! I should text mom to be sure,"
Luke picked up his phone again and texted his mom. She replied with;
He probably just went to bathroom, stop worrying so much, he'll be fine.
Luke sighed, as his mom was probably right. He saw his little sister rummaging through the bags behind him.
"Violet!" Luke said, frightened by his sister's presence.
"I was here since we got here, why are you surprised?" Violet asked.
"I just thought you'd be playing in the sand, making a sand castle or whatever little kids do," Luke sat up.
"I'm not little!" Violet crossed her arms.
"You twelve, that's little," Luke explained.
"I'm a preteen, thank you very much," Violet rolled her eyes. "Besides, you're only 16, that's not much older!"
"At least I am older!" Luke said and stood up. "You know, where'd Sam go?"
"He went swimming or whatever," Violet opened a container of Goldfish.
"Thanks," Luke said as he headed towards the water. "Oh Sam, where are you?!"
All of the sudden, a loud shriek came from the deep end of the water. It sounded like a little girl.
