the year was 2033. The Great War had been going on for 13 years now, with no signs of stopping.
Until a group of terrorists released a deadly problem capable of killing almost instantly. A problem that quickly spread throughout the planet, devastating the population and eliminating continents one by one out of the war. A monster. A virus. A virus that could not be controlled once it was let loose from its prison. A virus that they simply called "death", because once you contracted it, that's what it was. A virus which was now free to roam and destroy.
It wiped out every living thing in its path - whether it be humans, animals, plants, or fungi. There was no cure - not even close to something that could stand in its way and potentially save them.
Except one.
In a last-ditch effort to keep humanity alive, scientists at a hidden lab in New York created some semblance of a vaccine, then injected some trained volunteers still living and unharmed with it. They then moved those selected as most likely to live to a remote location in the woods, hoping it might protect them from the worst of the damage.
They were known as Les Combattants.
As far as they could tell, they were the only ones left. Not even a glimpse of remaining humanity was left. They had waited. They had watched everything, everyone's lives crumble and fade away until there was nothing. Except them. Or as it seemed.
But in a place, quite close to them was something stirring with life.
The virus had died out, unknown to them. And left a flourishing trail in its wake.
