I step in front of the three people not even paying attention to me.
"H-Hi M-My N-" I stuttered out.
"We know who you are. Script please." The lady at the end says, not even glancing up from her phone.
I look down at the script in my hand. It's shaking, making it hard to read it.
"T-The n-name of the c-child.." I was rudely interrupted by the man sitting next to the lady.
"Okay, we had enough. Thank you, we will let you know." Nodding I stumble out of the room, tripping over my own two feet.
I hurriedly got into the limo and tried not to cry.
I'm not worthy of this life. Mother is going to be so disappointed.
The moment the limo pulled up to the mansion I jump out and ran to the back yard.
I fall to my knees in front of my dad's grave.
"Father I ruined my chance again. How can I be the daughter of two great actors? Two famous people. It doesn't make sense!" I shout out into the empty garden. The only thing to hear me being the roses and tulips.
"All I ever wanted was to be normal. Normal people aren't forced to go to auditions, live in a mansion, have maids and butlers, have a driver. It's not normal. I'm not normal." I sighed. I may have failed again. But, I will keep trying for my father's sake. I want to make him proud.
I went to my room and that meant I had to pass by all the servants. Which was an awful reminder to me of what I am. As soon as I got to my room I read the script thoroughly. I started rehearsing it again.
"The name of the...C-child?"
'Ugh! I can't get it right!' I mentally screamed.
"Come on Alice! You can do it! Do it for daddy!" I encourage myself. Hoping to not stumble over these silly words. That's all it is right, simple words.
"The name of the child sir?" I did it! I can't believe i did it!
"Yes! I did it! I did it!" I jump around my room, too excited to hide it.
"Okay. One more time. Read it further too." I grab the script and read over it.
"The name of the child sir?" I walk around my room. Trying to calm my nerves.
"That's a great name for such a b-beautiful child." Ugh! Try it again, I can do this.
"That's a great name for such a beautiful child." I say with a little more emotion. Making sure not to stutter my words.
Cheering inside my mind I continue to work with my scrip until I know I got it down.
Excitedly, i call up the producer of the show and ask for another audition, hoping to make my mom proud.
"I'm very sorry Ms. Watson, but we already finished auditions and filled the part. Good luck next time." I hang my head. Of course. I missed it. My luck would do this to me.
Looks like i can't make my mom proud. Im just not famous worthy. It's just not my thing, it's not what i was meant for, even though both my parents are famous, or were.
I cringe thinking about my deceased father. He was an amazing person. An amazing father, and an amazing actor.
He wouldn't want me to be thinking this way. I need to be positive, the next audition ill be ready for it!
Having made my mind i change for supper. Skipping down the stairs when I was sure no one was around, I rush into the dinning room to beat my mom to the table.
I set everything out so by the time my mother shows up, we can sit and eat.
I watch as she gracefully glides into the room. She takes a seat. I nervously start to eat.
"So I heard about the audition." She starts. I hold my breathe.
"I'm very proud of what you did." I stare at her completely confused.
"Stuttering a bunch and tripping myself on the way out?" I question her. She laughs.
"No, for coming home practicing your lines, and calling them back. It's what any actor should do." I sigh.
"Isn't it strange that I'm no good at acting when I have two actor parents?" Mom pauses before she laughs again.
"I was just like you when I was younger, you'll get it." I could tell she didn't want to talk about it, so I left it there. The dinner became quiet and peaceful. After speed eating, I excused myself from the table and went to my room.
I lay on my bed with my laptop and start my search.
"Angelina Watson age 17" I searched first. I had to know how she did it if she was just like me.
I clicked on a link, and it brought me to a video that sure as heck told me that my mom is a liar. And a good liar too.
