When they announced the Favourite Soul/R&B Male Artist,Michael lost to George Michael.Even though he lost,he was still smiling.I was nominated for the Favourite Pop/Rock Song and I was up against Rick Astley and Steve Winwood.
"The award for Favourite Pop/Rock Song goes to...Ariana Grande,The Way", announced Debbie Gibson.I covered my mouth in shock."Congratulations,Ari",said Michael, holding my hand and walking on stage with me.Debbie handed the award to me and the crowd was going crazy."I really didn't think I would win because I mean..I was up against Rick Astley and Steve Winwood.Two artists who started making music before I even started my career.I would like to thank everyone who voted,to my best friend Michael who always believed in me and to Mac Miller who recorded this song with me.I love all of you.I know I'm forgetting some things but I'm still shocked so..thank you to the American Music Awards",I said,before Michael and I walked back to our seats.
