After a not-so appeasing shift, I took the the strenuous walk down the street back to my apartment. Streaks of neon colors hung up at every shop, which all in turn leaked into the inky puddles blotched across the road. Reflecting the nighttime grace of Tokyo that basked under the glory of the silvery beauty known as the moon. A welcome change of pace to my uneventful, never-changing life.
Then in the distance I heard the familiar gargle I had learned to ignore but there was something different about this one. It was louder, more powerful and it felt real. Nevertheless, I continued my journey but then a weird phenomenon happened. My head turned to the distance as I felt a force? Once again I ignored my bizarre senses and tried to continue my journey. When suddenly a worm like structure, writhing with eyes all over its body, wrinkled from top to bottom all in a murky gravel color. It's outburst covered the moon as it's shriek rattled through the ebony sky of Japan.
Fear took no time to sink through my spine and pierce through every nerve. My hairs stood on end as I witnessed some kind of monstrosity only to be seen in trashy thriller films. I scanned around me to see that once again nobody else seemed to see the apocalyptic monster I saw and if they did they didn't seem to care. Settling to be curious and courageous I approached the fiend cautiously and swiftly.

I was panting by the time I was in proximity to the monster; my lungs moaning from the sharpness of the icy air. It was only then that I saw a singular figure falling through the air, the red hood on his uniform billowing in the wind as he landed a solid kick into the head of the worm, knocking its circular jaw off center. And knocking my jaw open at the impossible strength that came from the kick itself.
The pink haired figure yelled at me from the air and I could barely make out the words; "Look Out!".
The worm's head came hurling down, switching it's target to me. Sweat licked my forehead and adrenaline flooded through my body. Dropping my bag, I bounded as fast as I could before the worm chowed down into the pavement I just stood on."Holy shit!" I exclaimed. My heart knocked at my ribcage.
The person from before had somehow already reached the ground and he grabbed me by the collar bolting me and him away at unthinkable speeds as the worm bursts from the ground for attempt two of engulfing me. The boy dragged me behind a building to give us a temporary fortitude. He looked at me with slight worry.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
I looked up at him as he watched me catch my breath and calm down.
"What the hell was that?" I speak amidst my recovery, regaining my bearings.
"You can see it?" The boy asked with an underlying sense of...excitement?...
"Yeah, I see things like that all the time just not so..." I peered round the building and look at the destruction onslaught from the worm. "Wild?"
"I'm probably not the best to explain this, Megumi is probably better or Sensei even" The boy rambles slightly and stops after he sees my look of exasperation. "That thing is a curse I was sent to exorcise but it was supposed to be a grade 3 curse, this feels much worse"
I looked up at him thoughtfully. Curse? And through what he said there's many others who were just like him and me that could see these curses? I'm about to ask a question when the worm bursts through the wall behind me. Causing me and the boy to bolt again. The boy turns around briefly spinning in the air before kicking the head of the worm's head off our trail to give us more leeway to flee.
"Your kicks are quite strong aren't they?" I pant out, pumping my legs in desperate splendor trying to create distance from my one way trip to heaven that was chomping at the tarmac behind me.
The boy grinned as he ran alongside me not even breaking a sweat, in fact not even a sign of tiredness at all. "Thanks! It mostly comes naturally to me but I still have a lag in my curse energy"
"Curse energy?-" I get cut off as the boy hoists me up in the air as he jumps up to a commendable height over the worm's head as it chomps into the ground we once existed on.
He nods in confirmation responding back to my previous question. We land on top of the slimy encasing of the curse.
"That makes no sense" I say exasperatedly my brain was already spiraling from the constant movement and speeds that I had already been through. But before any question could be asked a new problem arose.
Small mouths rupture from the body of the worm as it twists and contorts to get us off; the mouths try to clamp onto our feet and bite into them. Then suddenly in one feel swoop the curse releases a piercing wail that floods me with nausea and makes me stumble into one of the waiting mouths, the same wave from before except concentrated.
Chomp! Hundreds of miniature scythes serrated and poisoned sink into my ankle. A burst of pain shoots into my body causing me to elicit a cry of pain. The other boy punched the curse in the spot that held me with an explosive impacts; spraying purple fluids out into the air and onto my clothes. Preceding this he coerced me to move as the curse belted out another waves of nauseating power. But by now my throat had gone coarse and I fell into a bottomless thirst as my ankle throbbed in complaint. I saw everything through a water-logged myopia, everything was darkening in the edges and anything left that could be seen was drowning in a murky purple. I needed to run but I couldn't. My sense of balance was out of commission and I could barely tell when both me and the boy had been launched in the air. The mouth of the worm came to view corkscrewing up to my altitude, millions of fangs waiting for my flesh and bone. I went into free fall as I hung on to what was left of my consciousness.
I strained my fading vision open and I couldn't see my pink haired ally anywhere. My clothes were billowing through the frigid air as I neared the waiting jaw of the curse. Alas I couldn't do anything as the mouth closed shut. An unsettling feeling welled up in my body, hailing from my cry of survival the force responded to my emotion.
A rush of strength flowed through my body; my hands and feet pushed against the rim of the circular jaw. The curse's teeth sank into my flesh as I propped myself from instant death as I pried the mouth of the hellspawn open. Yet it wasn't long till the curse recontinued its bite, clamping down on my figure as everything started to blank out and fade to black. It was then and only then that I felt a kindling inside me an odd and familiar feeling and though I was on the door of death for a split second I felt more alive than ever.
A/N - It took me quite a while to write this chapter but I think it might lack the depth I'm trying to get so I might improve it later but for now here's what you got. To whoever is actually reading this crap 😭
P.S I had no idea how to properly introduce this CT but I promise its not utter trash(hopefully). Also I did go back and change it up a bit to make it better.
