Walking through the door of my house after walking half a mile from school, I was exhausted. I walked into the living room glad see that he wasn't home but in his place was a large amount of bottles in a pile on the ground. The smell of alcohol encased the entire room and I couldn't help but cringe. No matter how many times this occurred, I was still not use to the intoxicating smell.

Letting out a big sigh, I went to go get a garbage bag to throw the empty bottles out. I didn't understand how the man could drink so much yet go to work the next day in great condition. I was sure he would have been fired by now but I guess he hides his hangovers well.

After I finished picking up every last bottle from the ground, I checked my phone see that it was already 2:45. Aidan's school usually ended at about 3, where as I got out at 2:10. I was grateful to have a early time release but it was also a curse since I was only able to come home after.

"Time to get Aidan" I muttered to no one in particular.

Gathering my purse, and taking my house keys & phone, I left the house making sure to lock the door behind me. Aidan's school was only a couple of blocks away from the house, which made taking him to school more convenient since I was the only one that did. He wasn't able to take Aidan in the morning because he said that it was my responsibility. Which doesn't make sense since he is the adult but I don't argue.

Walking up to the elementary school, I see Ms. Chase standing outside of the main entrance doors. She was Aidan's kindergarten teacher. Being at the age 22, she was young, with a slim figure, and long dirty blonde hair, which I envied. She always has a smile on her face, making her seem as though she didn't have any problems of her own. Ms. Chase also had a bubbly and sweet personality to match her energetic look. Which was something I wish had.

"Hey Ms. Chase, how are you doing?" I greeted her.

"Ah, Rosaline I'm doing well, and you?" She asked with a wide smile.

"I'm doing great, I came to pick up Aidan." I answered. She told me to come inside and get his book bag, since he was playing outside on the playground in the back.

I went inside his kindergarten classroom to get his book bag off the hook. You could tell that Ms. Chase loved giving out art activities to the kids from all the work hanging around the room. Her room had a bright and energetic feeling to it, just like she did. With bright yellow & blue walls, tables and chairs that had a name tag for each kid and school like carpets of race tracks on the ground. It was the perfect classroom environment.

I went through the back door that was in the classroom, which led to the playground area. Looking for Aidan, I finally spotted him by the slides with 2 of his classmates. I couldn't help but smile at his facial expression. He had on a large smile on his face that reached his eyes, it was a real smile. Something he usually showed during school where he didn't have to worry about him. I wish I was able to smile like that at school, and maybe being happy for a change, but I was a loner in school. I didn't have friends to smile like that with but I don't mind the loneliness, it was the only thing that kept me sane.

"Aidan, it's time to come home!" I called out to him. He turned around and saw me, widening his smile even more.

"Hi Rosie!" He said running up to me and giving me a big hug.

"How's my favorite little brother, doing?" I asked, crouching down and ruffling his messy light brown hair.

"Rosie, I'm your only brother." He giggled, making me smile. He was a smart little boy.

"Yea I know, but it's time to get home little man." I said. He looked at me with a pouty face, indicating that he didn't wanna go home.

"Don't worry Aidan, tomorrow you can play all you want at school, ok?"

"Alright." he says bringing his smile back.

I hand his book bag so he could carry it, and take his hand as we leave the school, saying good bye to Ms. Chase along the way. We walk hand in hand down the block to our house, checking the time to that it's 5 o'clock. I had to hurry home in order to make him dinner, I hope that I can make his meal right today because last nights dinner didn't go so well and I didn't want a repeat of that.

Walking up to the house, i spotted his car in the drive way and I instantly stiffened. Did I do something wrong? Was I in trouble? I couldn't stop the questions that circled around in my head. He wasn't suppose to be home, he usually came home an hour later, which meant I had an hour to make him dinner. Aidan noticed my troubled state and looked at me.

"What's wrong, Rosie?" he asked with a worried expression.

"Oh, it's nothing, don't worry." I replied nervously. He didn't seemed convinced but didn't question it.

I gulped and took out my house keys from my purse to open the door. I entered the living room to only be scared all over again.

"Where have you been?"
