He looked at me with a devilish look, cigarette in hand and he looked anything but human. I knew he could tell how scared I was by the way his mouth started to form into a demonic grin. I was scared out of my mind and I didn't know what to do. I also didn't want Aidan to see what might happen. I looked down at him.

"Aidan, could you go upstairs for me please?" I said in a croak.

"But what about you, Rosie?" He asked curiously.

"Just please go upstairs for me? I'll be up in a bit and ill make you dinner. How about that?"

"Ok, I'll go." He said scurrying off up the stairs.

I looked back up at the man I called my father. He was a scary looking man, with a strong built from working out and standing at about 6'3. Compared to my 5'4 height, I looked like a child next to him. He used to have bright eyes with a slight twinkle in them, but they were now has dull as ever. His once dirty blonde hair was now a greasy light brown with gray peeking out at the roots. He was a physical and mental mess.

"Why are you home, daddy?" I asked nervously twitching my hands behind my back.

"Don't talk to me unless you are spoken to!" He bellowed. He started walking towards me as if I was his prey. His eyes started to become angry and I started to whimper in fear.

"Do you hear me!" He asked, even angrier than before. I was too scared to answer. I was covering my face so that I wouldn't have any bruises from him.

But when I didn't answer, that's when all hell broke loose.

Almost running towards me now, he stands directly in front of my face and grabs my arm with great force. I gasp, suddenly surprised by the harsh yank. My face scrunched up in pain.

"Do you know what happens to daughters who don't listen to their fathers?!?" He almost screamed. I shook my head, not being able to muster up any words to say.

"Answer me Rosaline!"

"They get consequences" I said barely above a whisper. Which he ended up not liking.

"Louder!"

"They get consequences" I said in a louder tone; one where he could hear me.

"That's right, since you have been a bad girl, it's time for your consequence." He said with a demonic chuckle. One that made my spine shiver in fear.

By then, I knew exactly what my punishment was. He only did multiple times before in the past. And I knew if I struggled it would only make matters worse.

He rolls up my mint green blouse sleeve, looks at my wrist with his demonic grin still showing. Taking the already lighted cigarette from where he placed it behind his ear, he jabs it right onto the skin. I scream in pain as the burning heat scorches my wrist. I know I should be use to this, but I can't help but feel the pain as it travels throughout my body.

My visions starts to blur due to the tears that fill up my eyes and run down my cheeks. He holds down the cigarette for a little longer before finally letting go. He throws my body to the wall, and I slide down to the ground from the immense pain. He looks down at me with disgust; I wanted to run away and hide.

"See what you made me do now!" He says looking down at me. I didn't want anything more than to fall asleep and get rid of this pain.

"I didn't want to do that, but you made me! It's all your fault!" He continues. He suddenly kicks me in the stomach and I gasp again. I start having difficulty to breath but then he kicks me one more time. I close my eyes from the pain. Wishing that everything will just go away and that it was all a dream, but sadly this was reality.

He pulls me by the hair so that I look directly at him. His intense gaze made me want to cower away, but I couldn't due to the tight hold.

"I'm going out tonight, make sure you have some dinner ready for me by the time I get back." He says with a hint of irritation.

"Yes daddy." I answer back, knowing if I didn't, I would receive more pain filled consequences.

He lets go of my dark brown hair, and stands up. I watch him grab his coat and car keys as he walks out the front door, only to be closing it with a loud bang.

I take deep breathes, trying to calm myself from the situation that just occurred, but I knew it would be in my nightmares tonight. I wipe my tears away before I try and stand up from the ground. I end up doubling over from the pain and shrink back down into my knees. Me being already weak, my stomach ached even more.

Grabbing onto the wall with all my strength, I slowly but surely start to stand up straight. I scrunch my nose from the pain but I try and push the feeling away as I walk to Aidan's room. I was glad that he didn't have to watch the horrific scenes that occurred. He didn't deserve to see his sister like that. I didn't want him to be terrified and have constant nightmares like I did.

But I was also glad that he wasn't the one getting hurt. I would take his place any day, his cheerful soul didn't need to be tainted at a young age. So I have to protect him no matter what.
