[Eun-ae's POV]
I try very hard not to look at him throughout the meeting, but it's like someone else is controlling my eyes. They keep wandering off to him, and I keep having to pull them back to the white board, where the representative from the Sales Department is doodling charts and graphs and tables.
The worst part is that Kim Taehyung has caught me looking at him several times. Of course, I manage to quickly look away each time, but not quick enough that he didn't notice. Granted, he's probably used to people staring at him all the time, but I don't want to be one of those people. I don't want to make him uncomfortable.
As luck would have it, it turns out that Kim Taehyung and I would have to work together a fair amount, since his job is to analyze the data and, in our team, I'm the main source of said data.
When the meeting finally wraps up close to the one hour mark, I'm the first to shuffle out the door.

"How'd the meeting go?" Haerin asks when I get back to our pod.
"It was okay," I answer evasively, quickly taking my seat and unlocking my screen.
"Wait a minute," Minyoung says, narrowing her eyes at me, "Flushed cheeks, dilated pupils, rapid breathing..." she gasps, "Hot Guy was in the task force!"
I roll my eyes but don't respond. Minyoung sucks in a breath through her teeth.
"Shit," she exclaims, shaking her head, "So there are advantages to working hard."
"Uhm, excuse me," says a deep, pleasant voice. Three heads whip around quick enough to break necks.
Before us, Kim Taehyung stands in all his breath-taking, improbable beauty.
"Fuck me," Minyoung mutters, and Haerin surreptitiously pinches her arm. "Ow! Hey!"
"Eun-ae-ssi," Kim Taehyung says, looking at me, and I try my best to not spontaneously combust, "I meant to talk to you after the meeting, but you disappeared." He moves closer to stand next to my desk and holds something out. I lag for a few seconds before managing to wrench my gaze away from that ridiculous face and look down at what he has in his hand. It's a thumb drive. "I realized that the data in the customer sales detail report for 10 years would be too big to send through email, so I thought I'd get it from you this way."
"Yeah," I croak, then clear my throat. "Sure."
I take the thumb drive, taking care not to accidentally touch his fingers with mine, then plug it into my laptop. As I pull the data he's requesting, in the corner of my eye, I see Minyoung fixing her hair, while Haerin just openly stares up at Taehyung, mouth slightly agape. I work as fast as I can before he realizes how weird we all are, if he hasn't already.
After uploading the file into the USB folder, I quickly pull out the thumb drive and shove it towards Taehyung.
"Here," I say, looking at the space between his eyebrows, which I read is a hack for making 'eye contact' without actually looking into someone's eyes. He takes it, and for a split second, our fingers touch. I quickly snatch my hand back, as if burned.
"Thanks," he tells me in that delightfully deep voice, then he turns to Haerin and Minyoung. He nods at them, and Minyoung takes the opportunity to flutter her eyelashes at a rate of 500 times per minute.
He starts turning away, but pauses. He seems to hesitate, then looks back at me.
"I'm sorry if this is weird but," he says, biting his lip, probably a nervous habit, and I could swear I hear Minyoung moan, "have we met before?"
"Huh?" is the only thing I can say.
"It's just..." he continues, "you seem familiar."
"Oh," I respond, puzzled, "I... don't think so." I would definitely remember meeting someone like him. His face is the literal opposite of forgettable.
He pauses, like he's glitched, then nods.
"Yes, I see. Sorry about that." He bows, turns around quickly, then leaves.
Haerin gives me weird look.
"What was that about?"
I can only shrug.
"Damn," Minyoung says, watching Taehyung walk away, "that's a fine ass!"
[Taehyung's POV]
I turn on the faucet, letting the cold water run. I splash my face three times, then grip the edge of the sink as I take deep, bracing breaths.
'Get a grip, Taehyung. Pull yourself together.'
I look up and stare at myself in the mirror. I know 15 years is a long time, and my features have changed a lot since then. I've definitely grown into my nose and ears, which used to be way too big for my small face. My eyes too, have changed. Gone is the soft, innocence of youth. Now they're sharp, and I'm not at all surprised that people tend to think I'm aloof, unapproachable. Well, I prefer it that way now.
Still... how could she not recognize me? Could it be... it's not her after all?
But no... there's no mistaking that little crescent-shaped birthmark underneath her left ear.
It's definitely her. It's got to be her.
And yet... she just looked at me with that blank stare, looked at me like a stranger.
Why does it hurt so damn much?
"Okay, class, settle down. Today, you have a new classmate." The teacher nods at the young boy standing beside him in front of the class. "Go ahead, introduce yourself."
"My name is Kim Taehyung," the boy says, face blank, "I hope we all get along."
The teacher gestures towards the only empty seat in the classroom, one by the window in the third row. The boy, Taehyung, nods then heads to his assigned seat.
As soon as Taehyung sits down, the girl in the seat next to his turns to him with a wide smile on her face.
"Hi," she whispers, leaning in, "I'm Kang Jieun! Let's be friends, okay?"
Taken off guard by her friendliness, Taehyung could only nod. The girl nods back, seemingly satisfied by his response, then turns her attention back to their teacher.
Later, Taehyung finds himself doodling on his notebook, as he lets his mind wander away from the lesson. By the time class has ended, he's drawn at least twenty crescent shapes of various sizes all over the page.
It is only when the bell rings and Jieun turns to him once more with her big, bright smile that he realizes why. There, underneath her left ear, is a crescent-shaped birthmark.
