Cleaning Your Home

As I've aged, I've come to realize that many individuals were never taught the proper techniques for maintaining a clean home. Without this knowledge, the task can feel daunting and overwhelming. Yet, with the right strategies and a solid plan, it becomes much more manageable and even therapeutic. Trust me, you can do this.

Let me be candid with you. I haven't always been the neatest person. My bedroom used to be a constant mess, with clothes strewn across the floor and dishes piling up. It became increasingly overwhelming as the clutter accumulated, and I neglected to address it until it reached a breaking point. This chaos not only disrupted my daily life but also took a toll on my mental well-being. I was constantly scrambling, unable to find anything, and frequently running late because I couldn't distinguish between clean and dirty clothes. It was a disorganized nightmare.

But through trial and error, I've learned the value of establishing good cleaning habits and sticking to a routine. It's made a world of difference in keeping my space tidy and my mind at ease. If I can overcome my messy tendencies, so can you. Don't give up—take it one step at a time, and you'll soon find yourself enjoying the benefits of a clean and organized home.

Cleaning Supplies:

Colorox/Bleach/Toilet Cleaner (I personally get the powdered bleach from the dollar store)

Disinfectant/All purpose cleaner

Magic eraser

Dish Soap

Sponge

Broom

Vacuum

Mop/Floor Cleaner

Microfiber cloth (suggested)

Paper Towels/rags

My personal routine is as follows.

Picking Up Around the House

1.) Go throughout the home and gather any dishes and cups from every room. Place everything in the kitchen sink or on the counters (if your sink is already full).

2.) If you can, fill the sink with hot water and soap so that your dishes can soak. This will make them easier to clean once we get to this step.

3.) Pick up all the shoes scattered around and put them away. Do not just throw them in a pile in your closet! Treat your items with respect so that they last longer. Put them in their designated places. If they do not have a designated place, create one for them. Growing up we used to say, "find it a home!" If you cannot find a home for it, maybe it's time to declutter.

4.) Pick up your clothes scattered about and create 2 piles on your bed. One pile is clean and the other is dirty. The goal is to get everything off the ground.

5.) After dirty dishes, shoes, and clothes focus on putting things away that you have left out during the week. Put your makeup brushes away appropriately, stack your toiletries in the appropriate places. Once again, treat your items with respect. You worked hard to buy them! Make them last.

Bathrooms

1.) Start by gathering your bath mats and taking them outside to shake them out. If it's a nice day, lay them out over the bannister or a chair and let them air out.

2.) Put the cleaner in the toilet bowl and leave it to soak.

3.) Take everything off your bathroom vanity/counter. (Handsoap, decor, makeup, EVERYTHING).
