This afternoon at Hogwarts was rainy. All students were huddled in the castle, trying to stay warm from the wet and humid conditions outside. The majority of students stayed in their common room, gathered around the fireplace, either studying or chatting with fellow students. However, Athena and few others stayed in the library, reading. The chocolate brown haired girl was reading her favourite book her muggle mother gave her from when she was back home. The book was called 'to kill a mocking bird'. Athenas mother said it was written when she was around 10 years of age. 'One of the best books from the 1960s!' Is what she says every time this book is mentioned, now I think of what she says everytime I read it.
The book was interesting, if I'm being honest it was one of my favourites. I could never tell that to my mother though because I told her that it would be boring, since it's from the 60s. That was before I had read it though, since then my opinion has changed. I was about the turn the page of my book, when I heard a raspy voice shout in the silent library. "Students must proceed back to their dormitory's before curfew at 10:00pm. Any students that remain in the library past then, will receive a detention with professor Snape." I have an only received one detention in my time at Hogwarts, and I believe I didn't even deserve that detention. It was when one of my roommates purposely left my work papers from charms in the library, and I had to sneak out past curfew to go get them. I snuck past filch and everything, just to get to the library for the doors to be shut. "Students out of bed!! Students out of bed!" There was that raspy, croaky voice. Filch was behind me. Let's just say that detention with Snape was one of my least favourite times here at Hogwarts.
The time was 9:50, I better get going from the library if I didn't want a detention. I proceeded to grab my books from previous classes beforehand, and went off to my dorm. I admired how tall the halls were, the details on the wall and just how extraordinary Hogwarts was. I loved how the dim lights made the halls look. It makes it feel cozy and relaxing. Like home. I couldn't really explain how much I enjoy being at Hogwarts. The views, the people, the activity's, it's just amazing. I'm pretty quiet and reserved, so I'm pretty sure I don't have any enemies. I have very few friends, but those friends are all I need. Harry and Hermione are the friends I hang around with most, Ron I don't know as well as Harry and Hermione but I'm willing to get to know him. I've sat with the golden trio a few times at breakfast, since I'm Hufflepuff I can't sit with them all the time. From those few times, what I've learnt about Ron is that he loves eating, most of the time he doesn't stop and Hermione gets mad about it.
Ive made it back to my dorm, after all the thinking about my friends, and the castle, I finally made it back. I set my books down on my bedside table and lit the small candle next to them. Candles remind me of home, my mother always lit candles when we ate at the table for dinner. "Everything alright Athena?" My roommate Angela asks me. I guess I was thinking so much about home I didn't realise I was literally just sitting on my bed staring at the ground. "Yeah, just miss home." I replied. She said nothing but gave me a small smile, then sat on her bed opening her book to read. Instead of staring into space, I was going to do what Angela was doing. I looked at my books I just set down, ready to read hoping it would take my mind off things. I shot up of my bed and scattered my books all over the bedside table, some knocking onto the ground. "Where is it?" I repeated that about 3 times while desperately searching for the book my mom gave me. "You woke me up" a raspy voice from beside me said complaining, it was my other roommate Susan. "Sorry Susan but I can seem to find my book anywhere." "That stupid- what is it called? Something about a bird? Get over it it's just a book." Susan was awfully mean for a Hufflepuff. Sometimes I wonder how the hell she got put in this house in the first place. "Calm down Athena-" Angela started to try to calm me before I went to the door and rushed to the library. "Athena! It's 20 minutes past curfew!" Angela was calling out for me. She was caring, she didn't want me in trouble, but I needed my book. "Let her go, Angela. It's her choice, to be honest she deserves to get in trouble. She reads too much! losing that book is for her own good." "Come on Susan, be nice. That book means a lot to Athena!" That's all I heard before I was too far down the hallway to hear anymore.
I walked through the tall hallways, I shivered slightly. Hogwarts was pretty chilly at night. I walked as fast as I could, while trying not to make much noise since it was past almost 10:40pm. "And where do you think you're off to?" I stopped in my tracks. I knew that voice. I knew it too well. "It's past curfew. You may be good at reading books but I guess you need to work on reading the time." I turned to face them. Even in the dim lighting, Draco Malfoy's blonde hair was still bright. "I left my-" "I didn't ask, nor do I care what you left where. What does matter is that you are past curfew Milan's." He interrupted me. Perhaps he would understand if I had a chance to damn explain it. "I left my favourite book in the library. I need it" I pleaded. I needed that book. I don't want anyone ruining it- or putting on a shelf where I can't find it. "Don't make me repeat myself again. I told you, I don't care why you pacing around the halls 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐰 like the little weirdo you are, but again, you are PAST CURFEW. Are you not aware of what that means?" He takes a step closer. I know I said I have to enemy's, but I guess I forgot about Draco Malfoy. He's been mean to me ever since I started hanging out with Harry. And probably because I'm a half-blood. He's not nearly as mean to me as he is to the golden trio though. I'm thankful for treat but I feel sorry for them, Draco can be mean. I feel a large hand wrap around my wrist, taking me out of my thought. Draco started to drag me to- actually, I'm not sure where but he was dragging me somewhere. "Where are we going?" My voice had a slight shake in it. I wasn't necessarily scared of Draco, I was scared of trouble. He didn't answer, just continued to drag me harshly down the hallway, away from the library. "Draco? Where are you taking me?" "The headmasters office." My eyes widened. I guess I was being a bit dramatic, but I didn't want to disappoint my father. He was a great wizard, he expected me to be some extraordinary witch or something. He was really mad when I got that one detention. He sent me a howler and yelled at me in the great hall. One of my most embarrassing moments. "Draco- can we please reconsider or something? You see, my father doesn't-" "Maybe you should have thought about that before sneaking out of bed." I swear to god if this boy interrupts me one more time I will snap at him. "Don't act like you never have snuck out of bed before." He's Draco Malfoy, of course he's snuck out of bed before. I tug my arm trying to slow him down and to get him to stop pulling me so harshly. "Draco! Please just-" "Fine! If it gets you to shut your blabbering mouth, then I will let you go. If I catch you out of bed past curfew one more time I will most certainly let the headmaster know. Got it?" This bit- "Yes. Yeah I got it." "Get going then." With that I walked back down the hallway, to my dorm. I guess I would just have to hope my book was there in the morning.
