The sound of the rain rattling on the roof of your apartment wakes you up from a deep sleep that lasted a few hours due to the hard working that was done earlier. Not even a minute later your phone rings, filling the room with an annoying, high-pitched and piercing sound that gets a groan out of your mouth as you open your eyes with a grumpy expression.
"God damn it.." You swear quietly while answering the phone, trying to sound as composed as possible. Being away from the city you loved, you would always cherish the moments when you could only hear the rain, but not in crowded Detroit. You knew that technology had advanced so much over the past years that cars were almost completely silent, and the only voices you'd hear were those of androids.
You get notified that you needs to make your way to the department right away, it's urgent.
You grabs your clothes from the chair behind your desk and put on the light grey sweater with some black mom jeans. A few accessories such as a necklace and some rings completed the look perfectly and you put on your shoes before grabbing your phone, wallet and keys. You brush through your hair quickly and make the decision to leave it down today.
After a few minutes you exit and step outside to the wet and gloomy streets of Detroit, the taxi already waiting at your step.
As you get in you're greeted by an automated voice and obviously, no driver.
"Good evening, what is your destination today?" The android voice asks while sliding the door shut.
"Detroit police department." You say as you buckle yourself up and lean your elbow on the window while the vehicle starts to drive.Watching the raindrops race each other on the glass wasn't much of an entertainment for you. As a result, you kept falling into split-second naps every minute or so until you had arrived.
"You have arrived at your destination." Is the sentence that wakes you up from "resting your eyes". You step out and feel the rain covering your coat and boots before quickly getting inside.
"Hello, can I help you?" A female android voice is heard from the register. You approach the android and greet her with a smile.
"Hey, Em, I was called in?" You say while taking your hat off.
"Yes, you're getting assigned a new partner." She says with a glad smile as she scans your face."Wait what?" You questions as your eyebrows furrow in confusion.
"Mhm!" The android confirms as she opens the door for you.You walk into the precinct and start heading towards your desk but notice someone standing there..
"My new partner is an android?" You think to yourself as you stops in your tracks, dropping your beanie but quickly picking it back up. The quite tall and smart-looking android turns around to the sound of your footsteps.
"Hello, my name's Connor, I'm the android sent by Cyberlife." He says politely while placing his hands behind his back. You give him a polite smile and quickly look him up and down. He was handsome, Cyberlife had done a very great job at replicating a human, that's for sure, but he could never be confused with one considering that he has a big title 'ANDROID' on the back of his grey suit.
"Hello, I'm detective Sophia Delaney, it's nice to meet you Connor." You answer him while extending your arm out for a greeting. Connor returns the gesture and shakes your hand gently.
"Oh wow, your hands actually warm and human-like." You laugh awkwardly, the slightly uncomfortable air rising around you two.
"I was made to be as human-like as possible, that includes a temperature setting that can be toggled."
He explains while keeping the same expression that he has had on his face for the whole entire time.
