I looked up towards the staircase and I could've sworn my life started playing in slow motion. Kevin walked elegantly down the stairs dressed in this beige T-shirt with an olive green trousers, dearly complimented by the same colour of a face cap. "Those shoes look like they could buy my house". I thought to myself as I stared at the pair of Jordans that looked like they were carved just for him. "Close your mouth before you start drooling". Tricia whispered to me in tease. "Oh please!". I said in reply, "Finally, Kevin", I continued, getting up from my seat, "You do realise we're about to search a shady criminal's house, not go on a picnic date, right?" I asked him teasingly.
"Of course, what? Am I overdressed?" He asked anxiously in reply.
"Not at all, you look perfect. Debbie's just worried someone else might snatch you from her or something". Tricia answered, jumping into the conversation.I rolled my eyes and said, "You can't seem to take a break, let's just get going, I'm so impatient and excited"
"I'm not". Tricia replied causing the atmosphere to turn very tense. "I've been there and I'm beginning to have second thoughts, I would never forgive myself if this leaves you both traumatised or something", she continued.
"Just think of this as an act of solidarity then, you've seen a lot in that building, so we'll just go there to show our support and understanding", I said.
We then got into an average looking Toyota and drove off to Aunty's house, accompanied by two hefty, bald men in black suits, I assumed they had guns on them.On our way there, we said a short prayer and Tricia wouldn't stop vibrating in nervousness. Even my heart was immediately racing as we drew nearer and nearer to the house. I had to distract or calm myself down one way or the other so I said, "Remind me again why we're going there? I mean..the police already searched the place inside out and found nothing to use against Aunty. And we're just kids, are we sure we would even make a difference?"
"I can tell you're scared, Debbie. But we have to remember, this same police force hasn't done anything about Aunty and her repeated terrorism, they've been allegedly looking into her case for years now but haven't been unable to provide any signs or evidence that they're actually trying. Even after this woman's attempted murder, they let her go. And we can't say Tricia is making all of this up, we've seen the woman in question and we could believe she's capable of committing all these crimes. According to my research and study, there's been really good evidence and even witnesses of Aunty committing abominable crimes, but somehow, she's still free. It wouldn't hurt to assume they're being biased. I'm sure we'll find at least something in there, okay? Relax, we have three really strong men in these vehicle, it couldn't go wrong. I would never intentionally do anything that'll put you in danger, Debbie. Here, I brought masks, just in case there's a camera or anything or anyone in there, we'll be unrecognisable." Kevin answered, really reassuring me then each of us took a mask and put it on.In a few seconds, we found ourselves in Aunty's house and had already spent 5 minutes in there. We had only looked at the normal places like the living room, kitchen, toilets etc and it was getting quite boring when Kevin commented, "How the hell did the police find nothing? The wall of the bathroom is literally covered in blood, there are knives in basically every single room, it's just really spooky in here". Then I remembered, Tricia mentioned a particular room which she never walked into, she said it was always locked. So I asked, "Tricia, where are the locked rooms you talked about? The ones you could never go into?" "Guys, I don't think we're in any place to go there. It really isn't too late to turn back". Tricia replied. "Yes, it is, just take us to the front of the room at least". Kevin said, trying to convince Tricia who later took us to this 'forbidden room'. We stood in front of this room and stared at this colossal, old and fortified door. "This is a gate! There's like 20 huge chains, locked up with giant padlocks". I commented. "Whatever is behind this must be a really big deal, it's really sealed shut..do you think the police ever got to go in?", Kevin said, staring at the giant brown door in front of us. "What if I just.." I said, slightly pushing the door with my index finger. To our utmost surprise, the door creaked open! We all let out a giant scream on hearing the sound of this moving barricade. On seeing what was in there, I literally froze, my traumatised soul left my body leaving my brain aching in horror. We began to run down the stairs immediately in tears. I moved my body as fast as my legs could carry, not looking back. Tears filled my eyes and my heart pounded with instant regret. "Never again!" I screamed. Our two escorts must have heard us scream and dispersed to search for us. We spotted them and Kevin screamed an order at then saying, "Get us the f*ck out of here now!!" The men then took us on their shoulders, one of them lifting me and Kevin and the other taking Tricia. I kept my eyes closed and squeezed on the first material my hand felt. In an instant, we were in the car, zooming out of that place.
I kept muttering the words 'Blood of Jesus' to myself repeatedly and finally gathered the courage to open my eyes and find out that I kept my head on Kevin's legs the whole time, joking tightly unto his palm, I looked up and saw him shaking with his other hand over his face. I turned around to my right hand side and sighted Tricia just staring into space, she was being so brave about the whole thing, I mean..she handled that view way better than I did. I sat up and gave them both a big hug, Kevin wrapped his hands around both of use but Tricia just stayed there like she was unresponsive.
"What the hell was that", Kevin asked rhetorically. "I don't know what that was but I know I wouldn't dare fall asleep tonight" I answered. "But are you both okay?" I continued. "😂Look at you being the brave one here" Tricia commented with a hysterical laugh, like she was going crazy. "Kevin! What happened in that building, you were screaming and speeding around like you had seen a ghost!" One of the security men asked. "I don't know what we saw, Richard, but it definitely wasn't a ghost". Kevin replied. I immediately took out my phone and texted Chloe 'You would never believe what my crazy a*s just did😂😭'.
