She took a deep breath.

My dear wolf, don't you dare think of not helping me with this one!

Unknowingly, her mouth went agape a few times. Zed began to stifle a laugh from her antics but soon went silent when Devan gave him a glare in his direction. He clipped his mouth in an instant.

The atmosphere was supposed to be serious. For the fact that dead bodies are scattered around her. It may seem normal to them, like life isn't that important. For the rogues, they could care less.

The way she looked now was pretty amusing and horrendous at the same time; her appearance resembled that of a girl who survived a gory massacre.  She was trying her best to communicate. Can't blame her since she hadn't spoken to anyone in years, aside from her wolf.

"Alpha, she looked uncannily familiar," Zed blurted out.

Now that he's thought of it. She does quite resemble someone he knew. Her black hair hinted at their familiarity.

His craving for blood was no longer profound. His beast should have urged him to maim, but no, rather, he stood tall in front of the woman who made his heart tug with one glance.

This made him confused. He wanted to see her face; tucked her hair behind her ears. His hands were itching to comply.

"Could it be?" He lowly whispered. The thought of debunking their theory made him agitated to do so.

"I was…chased and led here. I mean no harm. I demand my freedom without punishment," he said, sounding like a pig squeaking for freedom. Her blundering antics earned loud guffaws from his men.

This made the tension less appalling. Who would have thought she'd made them quite entertained when she was dead serious.

Instead of rambling his chest from laughter, her expected effect was the opposite and somewhat made his heart bash erratically on his chest. Her voice did something to him.

He dreaded hearing her again.

However, instead of hearing a squeaky tone, it felt melodic to his ears. Why can't he get angry? Now he was super curious. He just needed to swat her hair away from her face, and his curiosity would be quenched.

His men's laugh died down the moment he moved swiftly in front of her, closing their distance.

Ooooh no. His men went eerily quiet, having the same reaction. They began a mental countdown, expecting to see her head roll on the ground any second; three seconds was enough.

When they were inches apart, she swiftly scudded away.

That earned her a warning growl from him.

She couldn’t afford to let him touch her, afraid that he would ignite their bond.

It has been years, and she internally scolded herself after being flustered by just their proximity. She cursed herself mentally for being overwhelmed.

Why is he so damn fast?

But luck was not on her side. In a flash, she felt the tingles running down her right shoulder, and her stomach began to churn.

Yes, her day just got worse.

The tingles flabbergasted him. There were fireworks.

It’s her.

Stoned and unable to move from the euphoric feeling, he then felt the strong impact of her kick on his abdomen. He staggered a few steps back. Stunned.

He knew she was blind, how could she move that accurately? He wondered.

She then growled, looking livid and wild, showing off her sharp fangs.
