In the cold night in a prison in Mexico, a chained-up man was sitting at the corner of the cell, rocking back and forth. This man was traumatised. In the next 24 hours, he will be held for public execution. This man had horrible nightmares, he couldn't go to sleep. Marquez Martinet, a man from Mexico, charged for vandalism, destruction of property, and mass murder. It all happened at once on the same day, when Marquez found out that the competition at the "Super Mario-A-Thon" was rigged. He ended up murdering everybody at the event in blind rage. He was later taken away by the police, and was charged for his crimes. Due to the deaths of over 70 people, Marquez was scentenced to death almost immediately. That scarred him, maybe until the day of his death. On the other side of the room, a cell-mate chuckled at Marquez's rocking. "Get some sleep, buddy. You don't wanna be sleeping on your execution now, would you?" the rude man asked. He was very drunk, holding a glass bottle as if he was about to throw it at Marquez. Marquez looked at the rude man angrily as if he was about to be the next person that would die by his hands. However, he couldn't move his arms. Marquez sighed. "Just leave me alone" Marquez whimpered. Marquez lied down on his bed, hoping to get some sleep if he could. That night, he cried.

The next morning, his cell gate opened which woke up Marquez. The police entered the cell for him. "Shit. I geuss this is where my life ends." Marquez thought. The police grabbed his chain and pulled Marquez with them. They took the mass murderer outside into the middle of town for his public execution. Suddenly, Marquez remembered the Mario-A-Thon event from yesterday. "That game... that game that was ran by that douchebag. He rigged the game so that he would give the game to her daughter. Why would the host an event if he's gonna give it to her anyways!?". So many questions were filling up his head. Deep down, Marquez knew he did the right thing. He wished he'd spoke up to the judge, which he was silent that night. As he walked up the stairs towards the guillotine, Marquez felt defeated. The police untied the chains off his body, and a man in a suit showed up and grabbed Marquez by the chin. Marquez didn't get a glimpse at him, but he didn't want to look at him anyways. That is until the man spoke. "This party would have been fun, if you weren't such a party-pooper". Marquez gasped. He looked up at the man, and his eyes widened. The man was Christian Albizua, the host of the Mario-A-Thon yesterday. He came along to the execution just to taunt Marquez about his actions. "You would have been the winner if you didn't stick your nose over everything" Christian taunted again, this time hitting him on the back of his head. Marquez looked up towards Christian angrily. Now that he was unchained, he didn't have a second thought for what he was about to do.

Marquez leaped onto Christian, pushing himself and him off onto the backstage of the balcony. The fall caused Christian break his neck, and his ribcage and spine were broken after Marquez fell ontop of him. Marquez knew that would have killed Christian, but he was too lost in anger that he repeatedly punched his face, causing blood and teeth to splatter all over the ground. Marquez dropped the body and tried to sneak out, using dark alleyways that usually lead to huge parts of the city. Marquez tried to find his home. He didn't want to deal with the massive amount of torment from all over the city. "Fuck..." Marquez was sweating harshly, worried about the thoughts in his head. "Shit's only going to get worse!". He found his home at last. He locked the doors and windows, and even set fire to the fireplace, so that nobody would barge into his house to capture him. Marquez sat down on his chair, and turning on 51 Minutos to help him calm down. Marquez looked at his hands. His twitching, red, blood-stained hands. Marquez killed somebody again, but this time it was a man he had been wanting to kill since the incident. Marquez felt happy, but at the same time terrified. Marquez needed to hide his identity somehow, but how?

Suddenly, Marquez had an idea. Back then, he used to make money just by dressing up as many different kinds of mascots. His job was to go to birthday parties or other large events, and entertain the children for cheap bucks. His most famous work, was dressing up as the ever-iconic video game mascot: Mario. Marquez's eyes sparkled. He wanted to kill, but he didn't want the world to know his true identity. "I think it's time for me..." Marquez talked to himself, taking the Mario costume off the rack. Marquez looked at the costume. It was one of those old vintage Mario designs from the 80s, specifically the box art of the original Super Mario Bros game. He was rewarded with the outfit since Super Mario World came out along with the Super Nintendo. Marquez tried to put on the Mario Head onto himself. "...to become Mario..." Marquez finished. His voice got very slow and menacing. Marquez sent to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Marquez saw his reflection with the Mario mask on, seeing himself as Mario. Marquez was about to make a new name for himself.

"Let's-a go..."
